Rochdale apprentice Sophie Etheridge was recently shortlisted for the North West National Apprenticeship Awards 2013. She was up against tough competition with 1,600 applying for the prestigious award. Sophie, who works at Bowser Supply Ltd, in Shawclough, came runner up and received her award at the regional awards ceremony at Lancashire County Council Chambers on 4th September. The National Apprenticeship Awards, now in their 10th year, celebrate the achievements of the country’s most outstanding apprentices and apprenticeship employers.
Spooky Moves The pupils of Fab Dance, run by Fiona Briddon, enjoyed a Halloween Party at Norden United Reform Church. The children dressed up in fabulous, spooky costumes and danced the night away.
REMEMBRANCE CONCERT
Just can’t seem to relax? Can’t get a good night’s sleep? The counselling team at Springhill Hospice have recorded a relaxation cd based on the relaxation sessions available to patients and relatives in the hospice. The CD has two tracks – a progressive muscle relaxation and a guided imagery relaxation, the soothing vocals are overlaid with background hypnotherapy music. Relaxation can help tension, anxiety, stress, pain, worry and aid restful sleep. A competition was launched within the hospice community to design a relaxing image to be the artwork for the CD cover. The competition winner was Day Hospice patient Monica Currin. Heywood resident Monica’s work is aptly entitled ‘Tranquillity’. CD’s can be bought for £4.99 from the hospice either at reception, in Day Hospice, or call fundraising on 01706 649920 for mail order (p&p extra).
Rochdale Festival of Remembrance Concert, sponsored by RRG Toyota, took place on 2nd November at Rochdale Town Hall. The concert featured the Band of the Royal Regiment of Fusilliers, singer Freda Farnworth and Pipers from the 70 Croft Sqn ATC.
