Beauty: Top trends this autumn

In this issue, I reveal the top beauty trends which will take us through 2019 and into the new year. These include the benefits of roses in skincare, why big brows aren’t going anywhere, and the myriad of lashes (which I'll attempt to simplify!). Here goes…

COMING UP ROSES

We are all thrilled when we receive a beautiful sweet-smelling bunch of roses, but have you thought of introducing them into your beauty routine? Roses have been used in skincare for many years. Mary Pickford, an American actress and producer (the Angelina Jolie of her day), was said to have eaten roses as she thought they enhanced her beauty. Although I am not suggesting that you incorporate rose petals into your diet, roses applied topically can have many skin benefits. Roses calm the skin, have anti inflammatory and scar reducing properties, are anti-bacterial and de-stress the skin. The naturally occurring oils and sugars hold moisture in the skin making the skin feel soft to the touch and also brightening the complexion. All skin types can benefit from roses this season. Keep your eyes peeled for Payot's Rose lift range which combines all the benefits mentioned, plus fibroblasts and memory foam technology which restructures and scaffolds the skin.

BIG IS BEAUTIFUL

Big brows are in; they are so IN, in fact that if you haven’t tried HD brows yet, you are overdue an appointment - but better late than never as they say. HD brows are not 'big black brows'; they are bespoke brows, measured against your specific facial features, tinted or lightened according to your skin and hair colour, and shaped to perfection to truly define the eye area. Whether you want a natural, flat, soap/brushed up, highlighted or Instagram brow your HD brow technician will not only create this for you, but will also advise you on how to enhance your brows further in your daily routine. With so many brow options available there really is an option for all ages and styles. Whatever brow shape you choose… make sure they’re big!

BAT THOSE LASHES

There are two major lash treatments which are dominating salons at the moment - The Classic and The Russian. With either of these lash enhancements, the lashes used come in a number of different lengths, thicknesses and level of curl.

Here are some eyelash extension specifics:

•They take from 45 minutes up to 2 hours to apply

• Lash extensions are a pain free treatment

• With appropriate care there is no damage to your natural lashes

• If looked after properly, they can last between 4-6 weeks

• The extensions fall out naturally and gradually

• You don’t have to have a break in between applications, they can be infilled every 2-3 weeks

So I hear you… what makes Russian lashes different to classic lashes? There are three main differences; weight, look and application method. Russian lashes are incredibly light; your highly skilled Russian lash technician will pick up 3-6 Russian lashes and fan them these are then all applied to one lash! This is a highly skilled and time consuming process but the results are worth it. The ‘look’ is fluffy and flirty lashes which are very comfortable due to their lightweight nature.
