Who Can Qualify for these Services?
Students qualify for special services based on academic and/or behavioral needs.
We receive some services through federal funding such as speech therapy and tutoring. While other supports are through highly qualified master teachers and staff like Mr. Calabrese who is an LBS1.

How can a Child Qualify for Special Services
Students may qualify for reading and math
tutoring based on their academic performance and their iReady diagnostic scores (below the 50th percentile).
Teachers may share their concerns with parents and create a plan to monitor a child’s progress over a 6-8 week period to include accomodations and modifications.
Teachers will collect artifacts and keep a log
What Happens Next?
Teachers, parents, and our student services staff will have many conversations and meetings over the 6-8 week period.
Our staff will integrate supports (interventions) for the child that include strategies the teacher can employ Frequent check-in’s to monitor progress
Determine if progress is being made
What if my child needs a referral for
an evaluation?
St. Viator’s Student Support Services Team will meet with you to discuss the process for an evaluation.
The evaluation is conducted through CPS only once their team has review our materials and artifacts and only with the parent’s permission.
Parent’s are asked to sign two documents and will then receive an appointment for their child to be evaluated (neuropyschological exam)
What Happens if my Child is Eligible for a Service Plan (IEP)
The Special Ed team at CPS will share the service plan (IEP) with you and review it with you.
