VORMATOR ILLUSTRATION
This project challenges our creativity to give each one of us the chance to show off our abilities to create a great piece with limited means. We got exactly 8 shapes to use, and we needed to create our own unique design with a strict set of rules. This illustration using Adobe Illustrator is just about pure skill and creativity. Some digital tools and techniques we used were cropping, rotating, filling and reshaping. We are supposed to focus on the Elements of Art of Scale and Color and focus on the Principles of Art of Repetition and Balance. When I started the project, I scrounged for ideas, as I had no idea what to do. Then I decided a sea theme would be in my abilities and then something unexpected would be a literal catfish, surrounded by coral and seaweed; its cool orange scales would fill up most of the frame.

The objective of this project is to create and work with Pattern and Photography together. We needed to create a pattern design in Illustrator, then take that pattern and combine it with a landscape photo in Photoshop producing a geometric collage. We use dust and scratches textures and photocopy textures that we can download. For this project we will use adobe illustrator and adobe photoshop. The adobe illustrator is to first create a geometric pattern using our shape tools. Then we select an interesting landscape image, then basically “copy and paste” parts of the background in to shapes inside of the geometric pattern.
DADAIST SELF-PORTRAIT
Dadaism is defined as an unusual or experimental art movement that defies reality and conventionalism as we create this surreal and disjointed piece. A requirement we had to make was that we had to make a minimum of eight new shapes of ourselves and layer them under each other using techniques we saw in the video. We will be transforming a photo of someone into a fractured photo effect. We utilized layer mask, the pen tool to create the shapes to take parts of the image and duplicate them. We can reposition and resize these images, we used the move tool to move the subject and the layer mask moved together.

Double Color Exposure

The double color exposure was a very interesting and fun project. The entire project is taking the image, double it and color it. Utilizing photoshop, we can change the RGB channels of the photo, manipulate it and adjust the effects and the colors. We can increase the levels of intensity and the levels of contrast with adjusting the color tone. We can give it different effects and change the blending modes/adjustment layers into vivid light and use other filters. Having a white or a black background does affect the color changes that we do to the double color exposure image.

Photo Manipulation Illustration
Photo manipulation is described as an art where ordinary photos are transformed and we turn the photo into something unexpected. It is often done by designers to express their experimental creativity. We need to choose one of these publications, like Rolling Stone, Time, or Entertainment Weekly. It was to pretend that we have been hired by one of the publications to create the illustrations. The photo manipulation will accompany an article in the magazine about a topic we could choose from, like sports teams, music groups, or technology. We had to use two of the following, Art History Brush, Paint Splatters, Glowing Lights, Light Streaks, Light Effects, Different Photoshop Filters, Textures overlayed with Layer Blending modes and Adjustment Layers and Light Effect stock photos.
Comic Book Digital Effect

We needed to take three new photos of ourselves expressing surprised, funny, and angry expressions. We needed to use the video tutorial for at least one of the photos we took. The video was to show us how to quickly and easily create comic book drawings. For that kind of effect, we used only three or about three filters. We were using layers, and the poster edges filter in the filter gallery. We can adjust the posterization of the filter to add edges, creating an outline look to the photo. The intensity and thickness of the edges is the basis for the comic book digital effect, so adjusting the look of it as we work on it is a good idea.

Logo Design

This project is the last one of the year and required the most planning. We needed to think of what is a definition of a logo, how are logos used, what are the basic qualities of a good logo and what is the main function of a logo? We needed to understand the basic design process and the objectives of good logo design. We devolved and refined our logos on paper first, then using adobe illustrator, we scanned and recreated our logos there. The goal was to employ the logo design concepts of simplicity, appropriation, memorable, effective with or without color and scale. Combining text and symbols using typography, we kept revising, refining and reimagining our designs.
