DIGITAL DRAWING

We needed to copy the surreal, and thought-provoking work of Jerry Uelsmann, who is said to be the master of photomontage. We needed to parody his creative process and darkroom techniques. Uelsmann produces composite photographs with multiple negatives and extensive darkroom work. This project combines dreams and bizarre images, utilizing clouds, eyes, silhouette figures of people, hands, water, landscape elements like; trees, mountains, moon, sun, stars, roads, bridges, lights and buildings. We were required to begin working with no ideas, incorporating Uelsmann’s technique of Post-Visualization. We made selections and refinements, we added layer masking to mask out parts of the images we want to take out. Layer blending modes and opacity was used to alter the images, and adjustment layers were used to make our images black and white.
