EASTER FLOWERING OF THE CROSS

All are welcome to participate in this beloved tradition as the cross is brought to life with color and beauty as a living symbol of resurrection. Stop by and place a flower in the cross that will be set up in the Atrium on Easter Sunday. Bringing something from your own garden is a practice that is certainly welcome, and one that many find especially meaningful.

EASTER ALTAR FLOWERS

We will once again have beautiful floral arrangements and decorations in our sacred spaces this Easter, with your help! Donations received on or before Sunday, April 2, will be listed in the Easter service leaflet. Those received after that date will be listed online. COMMUNITY

On Sunday, March 26, Cathedral parishioner Hubert Tate engaged in a conversation with fellow parishioners Del King and Victor Moldovan, the first LGBTQ+ couple married at the Cathedral of St. Philip. Though the Cathedral had blessed same-sex marriages prior to 2015, the union between King and Moldovan was the first formal ceremony that legally recognized the marriage. Dean Sam Candler also offered his insights on how the Episcopal Church has evolved on the issue within the last few decades. About 30 attendees, from across the diocese and parish, enjoyed this informative conversation.

Thanks and gratitude is given to individuals who also gave to support the Cathedral’s Ricks-Wheeler fund, which is a ministry to support programs and activities to persons living with HIV/AIDS.

FEATURED SPEAKERS:

The Boyce L. Ansley School and Emmaus House are two amazing organizations dedicated to caring for the most vulnerable of Atlanta’s children. The Boyce L. Ansley school has a proven track record of what education can look like when wraparound support is in place. Emmaus House focuses on a two-generation approach to addressing poverty, serving both children and their parents. Both organizations were started by Episcopalians who saw God in the face of their neighbor.

Please RSVP by March 30 at cathedralATL.org/ECWBrunch.

PASTORAL Care

Whether at work, at home, with friends or teammates, or in more formal helping roles, many of us have been, or will be, called upon to respond to someone who is experiencing a mental-health crisis or considering suicide. The Cathedral is hosting a two-day workshop in one of the world’s leading suicide-intervention models, Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST). ASIST teaches individuals to provide a skilled intervention to a person who may be having thoughts of suicide and develop a collaborative safety plan to keep them safe and alive.

The cost is $175 for Cathedral members and $250 for nonCathedral members. Payment in full is required at the time of registration. The payment is non-refundable by April 14; and before that date, there is a possibility of up to a 50% refund. Register at cathedralATL.org/ASIST. For questions, please contact the Rev. Canon Cathy Zappa.

HOLY WEEK

April 2–9

Full schedule on front page.

Wonder Week ofJUNE 5–9

Vacation

Arguably the most profound Sunday 4 o’clock choral service of the year, A Meditation on the Passion of Christ, with Carols, employs lessons and carols, spirituals, anthems, motets, and congregational hymns to illuminate the Passion of Christ, which is retold using biblical narratives from Mark, Matthew, and John, sung to some of the most ancient plainchant known to the Church. It is a deeply meaningful way to step back from the hectic pace of life and enter into Holy Week. The service begins at 4:00 p.m. this Sunday, April 2, with prelude music beginning at 3:40. See page 2 for detailed music listing.

SENIOR CYBER SAFETY EVENT

Friday, April 14, 10 a.m.–12:30 p.m. Child Hall

The Senior Citizen Public Safety Event is aimed at protecting seniors from commercial harassment and cyber security threats. Topics discussed will include crime prevention, cyber/telemarketing threats, and the increasing risk of commercial harassment by investors targeting the senior community. This program, offered by Atlanta’s Office of the City Solicitor Community Prosecution and Outreach Division, is free and open to the public.
