We are coming to the end of anti-bullying week when we have been supporting the work of the Anti-bullying Alliance across the school. Each class has been taught that as a school we stand ‘United Against Bullying’, which is this year’s theme. Mrs Bateson has pulled together resources for each year group to share and it has been taught during PSHE lessons too. On Monday the school community wore odd socks and shoes. Most importantly, Odd Socks Day is designed to be fun– it was an opportunity to encourage children and staff to express themselves and celebrate their individuality and what makes us all unique! More information and resources for parents can be found here: https://www.anti-bullyingalliance.org.uk/toolsinformation/advice-parents.
Christmas is most definitely coming at 2-8 and the school has been filled with the sound of children singing Christmas tunes this week, orchestrated by our musical maestro Mrs Hayden. I feel it is so important that the children have the opportunity to feel the magic and wonder of Christmas at school. The Christmas play rehearsals are in full swing at the moment and this year the Rayson Room will be transformed into a film studio. The Christmas plays will be streamed live to your homes and workplaces via Zoom and other platforms. They will also be recorded. My thanks to the ICT team at school for setting up the technology for these events. This year we will be joining the Whole School Community to record a Carol Service for us all to enjoy. Both the Year 2 and the Year 3 choirs are looking forward to being part of this unique event. This will be recorded and shared to the Whole School Community on the final day of term on the school website– more details of how to watch to follow.

This is end of week nine of the Autumn Term and what a different start to the year it has been. As a school community we have come so far and adapted brilliantly to the new, albeit temporary, normal. Drop off at school is now incredibly efficient and I can’t thank you enough for all your support and understanding by dropping your child at the designated areas, keeping socially distanced from one another and leaving the site at your earliest opportunity, allowing other parents to park and drop off their children. In my letter yesterday I wrote to explain that we are continuously reviewing our practices to ensure that we can stay open to as many pupils as possible and minimise the spread of Covid-19. Following recent cases across the school (2-18) and in light of the current lockdown regulations I asked that you leave the school premises as soon as you have collected your child at pick up. I really do appreciate all you are doing to remain socially distanced and leave promptly at drop off. We do understand that children may wish to play with their friends after school, something which we have always been happy to see in the past. Unfortunately, we have to ask you to forgo this to protect the sustainability of what we are offering in school.

One of the huge strengths of the school is the incredible informal parent support networks that are created and I understand this has been difficult to achieve at a time when we need it most. On Thursday next week I am going to lead a Parent Forum for all parents across the school. After a short introduction, there will be an opportunity to ask me any questions regarding school. For the last half an hour there will be a breakout room for each year group (Nursery, Reception, Year 1, Year 2 and Year 3) where a parent from that particular Year group will host a social get together. This On Thursday 10th December we will be having will provide parents a chance to meet other parents in the same year group, to ask a Christmas Activity Day. There will be questions and share one another’s contact Christmas crafts to make, games to play and details if you wish. Zoom details will be shared
Children are invited to wear their most fabulous Christmas jumpers on our festive fun day. Fa la la la la!
by email on Tuesday in the weekly reminder. I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible next Thursday. Huge thanks to the Clifton Friends who this week have organised Bags 2 School and been on hand every morning to receive your full bags. All proceeds will go to our school charity, which will be announced next week. Due to the success of the Half Term holiday week in October we will be running a Christmas Holiday Club from Monday 14th to Friday 18th in the first week of the holidays. Once again this will be led by Miss Flockhart and be staffed by teachers and teaching assistants from across the school. Mrs LeeBursnall will be organising the bookings and there is a booking sheet at the end of this newsletter. Just a reminder there is no Reception swimming tomorrow and I hope you have a wonderful weekend. Best wishes,
