Reception

As you all know, last week we spent Thursday and Friday at Newby Wiske Hall on our residential.

What an exciting time we had on the zip wire, sensory trail, playing aeroball, practising our survival skills and challenging ourselves on the assault course! We had a thoroughly wonderful time sharing rooms and sleeping over with our friends, and not to mention eating lots of scrumptious food!

This week we revisited our trip and created Pie Corbett style story maps, based on our adventures. We then looked closely at recount writing and the features of a good recount. We used connectives to join sentences to make them more exciting and looked at applying adventurous vocabulary to help bring our writing to life.

Alongside this, we picked up where we left off with our core text and followed Mo and his friends into the hall ready for the big sleepover. We learnt about Egyptian hieroglyphs and made our own papyrus bookmarks with our names drawn in hieroglyphics.

We also completed our Lowry inspired artwork that we started last week, adding finger painted characters and sticking them down focusing of perspectives.

In Maths we moved onto identifying and recalling the properties of 3D shapes.

Phew! It has certainly been a busy 4 days in Year 3!
