We cannot believe that we have already come to the end of our final week in Ghana! What a busy few weeks it has been discovering facts about Ghana and the wonderful story about the national hero, Emanuel Ofosu Yeboah.

Throughout the week, the Year One have been exploring repeating patterns using traditional Ghanaian wooden stamps linked to emotions and feelings.

As we spent the previous few weeks learning about multiplication and counting repeating groups of the same amount, the children have had a very tasty and fun maths week as they applied all this new knowledge to investigate creating arrays and to solve problems! Maths is always fun when it is practical and delicious! The engagement, motivation and excitement from the children was just incredible!

Alongside this, we have returned to school after celebrating the King's Coronation on the long weekend. It has been wonderful to see all the different ways in which our families celebtarted the occasion! We have spent a great amount of time writing about this celebration, ensuring that we try to use more than one adjective (split with a comma) to describe the nouns! We have seen some wonderful descriptive writing that truly marks this special celebration!

Next week we will be reading another key text ... key your eyes peeled!

What another busy week we have had travelling around Paris!

This week we have visited Montmartre and explored the amazing artists who set up stalls here! Inspired by the famous silhouette starts, the children created their own silhouettes using side profile photographs and carefully cutting around their faces to show their delicate features!

In literacy this week we have been researching and writing facts about key landmarks around Paris and then used green screen technology to create travel videos for Paris- Ooh la-la!

In maths we have been exploring fractions of shape and investigating dividing shapes into halves, quarters and thirds! We all made a delicious croque monsieur which we used to divide and cut equally into fractions!

Following this we went on to discover that fractions are just the same as division! We quickly saw the link between knowing our times tables and division which really helps us when we need to work out a fraction of a number! ¼ of 16 is 4, which is the same as 16 16 ÷ 4 = 4!

On Wednesday 2J had their visit to Musical Connections and had a brilliant morning singing and getting to know some of the lovely people from the community! A big thank you to Mrs Hayden for organising these visits for us!

We can't wait to make our next stop-off for The Travelling School...India! So, if you would like to share any Indian connections, we would love to hear about them or feel free to bring in any items you would like to share! See you all at the Taj Mahal!
