by StPetersYork
Hi, my name is Novem. I am 8 years old. I like playing football and I support Manchester City. I also like doing Art, Math and Piano. My biggest goal is to win the Ballon d’Or. In my house I have two cats, mum and dad and me.
To be selected as a House Captain I am very proud and I will be very kind and will help each other. I will try my best to be a good Captain!
My name is Rosamund. I am nearly eight years old. I live with my mummy, my daddy and my little brother Nico, in York.
My hobbies are crafting, swimming, gymnastics, acting and learning.
Hello Walmgate, My name is Matilda and I am really happy to have been chosen to be your house captain. I have been at 2-8 right from the start in Nursery and I think it is the best school in the world and we are all lucky to be here.

I have one brother in J3 called Sam and two dogs called Harry and Mabel. My hobbies include gymnastics, swimming and fixing old cars with my daddy.
As house captain I would like to achieve
1. Keep everyone happy and make sure new members of Walmgate feel welcome.
2. Help people try new things.
3. Lift the winning trophy on Sports Day.
Ahead of sports day, the Year 2 and 3 children have been developing their high jump and long jump skills.

We have learnt various techniques to help move our bodies further across a distance. Through exploration, the children have mastered the most efficient technique for both jumps.
High jump is a complex movement and requires some intimidating equipment, the children were resilient and attacked the high jump head on. Using the scissor kick method, all classes were able to obtain strong results with many being new school records! As a consequence of all this hard work, the crash mat was often used for a quick relax before the next attempt.
Well done for working hard this week Year 2 and Year 3, and we look forward to sharing the results of these events on sports day.
