WE DN E S DAY

There is a distinctly snowy and icy theme in Early Years, and I enjoyed hearing all about penguins and polar bears from the children in Conkers who were having a great time exploring their Artic and Antarctic provision and working out which creature lived where.

TUE SDAY

The children arrived at school on Monday refreshed and ready for learning, despite it being a dark and cold January morning. As I walked around school on Monday morning, it was lovely to see that all of the children had settled back in and were busily engaged as if they’d never been away. It’s so important that school is in many ways a second home and a place where each and every child feels a sense of belonging and knows that they are seen, valued and understood. Not only is this vital for their own wellbeing, but it also opens doors to learning, enabling teachers and teaching assistants to offer challenge, and for the children to feel they are in a safe space where they can take risks with their learning and embrace the mistakes that often provide powerful learning opportunities.
