MUSIC

Wow, what a magical week we have had! School has been buzzing with excitement as all the children have shared their Christmas performances with family and friends. Years 1, 2 and 3 started the week off brilliantly performing in the Memorial Hall. Year 1 delivered their lines so confidently in It's a Party and their singing was fantastic. I was so proud of how they learned all the different songs, so many words to remember! Year 2 entertained us all with a Midwife Crisis, great acting, clear speaking from all the narrators and some great sheep dancing too! The children sang two of their songs in two-part harmony which is an incredibly tricky thing to do at such a young age. They worked so hard in our music lessons and it really did pay off with confident singing throughout the play. A special well done to Ellen for her beautiful singing in her solo as the star. Year 3 finished off the performances in the Memorial Hall with Hoodwinked. They all acted so confidently, remembering where to stand and to deliver their lines loudly and clearly. There were lots of humorous moments, not least the scene where some of our archers had a couple of sticky moments with where their arrows landed!! The whole year group sang beautifully throughout, navigating their way through tricky verses which slightly altered each time to singing in three part harmony as a year group. I couldn't have been prouder of all of them. We had three fabulous solos from Elio, Esme and Ellie, well done to you all, you overcame your nerves and sang your hearts out, definite stars to watch out for in the future. A special mention to all the children who had to step in for their absent friends last minute too.

Melanie, Oliver, Emma, Connie and James, you made sure the show went on, you were true professionals, thank you. Wednesday was so exciting for our youngest children as the Acorns and Conkers put on their Christmas jumpers and performed a selection of Christmas songs to a very packed Rayson Room. We only had happy tears from the grown ups as the children sang their hearts out, a truly magical way to start the Christmas celebrations. Reception had a hard act to follow but they all rose to the occasion and performed the story of the Nativity brilliantly. They wowed everyone with their clear narration, complete with signing, and brought the house down with their fabulousl dancing. Miss Flockhart had clearly put them through their paces in PE this half term! All the children sang beautifully, they have worked so hard in music this half term learning the different songs, lots of words and actions to manage but they did it all so well and with lots of smiles! A busy but lovely week, we look forward to welcoming you all next week to our Christingle Service in York Minster, a really special occasion for our school community. Mrs Hayden.

UPDATE on Proposed sports pitches and improved parking at St Peter’s School This project is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to improve our existing sports facilities and provide even better opportunity for pupils to participate in sports and reach their potential on state-of-the-art facilities. The new parking area will also help to ease current parking issues at drop-off and pick-up times. Following planning submission last year, we have worked closely with City of York Council and other statutory consultees and have now submitted a pack of information which is available on the Council’s planning portal.
