SCHOOL LETTER.

E have had a most enjoyable and successful term, thanks largely to the unseasonably fine weather which has spurred on our various activities on land and water. The earlier part of the term was taken up with inter-house football matches ; the later is filled with the excitement of the inter-house boat-races. At the same time, moreover, the School hockey team has gone on from victory to victory. Finally on Wednesday, March 3oth, the Sports are due, for which occasion we are fervently praying for fine weather. Everyone will be pleased to join us in congratulating the Headmaster and Mrs. Toyne upon the birth of a daughter. Miss Toyne has already become extremely popular in the school, because she desired us to celebrate her entrance into the world by a half-holiday. We have, however, suffered two heavy losses in the deaths of Canon Pemberton, a distinguished Old Boy, and Mrs. Yeld. Mrs. Yeld was the daughter of one master at the school and the wife of another, who stayed with us for fifty years. She always took a very great interest in the school and the individual members of it, and many Peterites -past and present, will remember her unfailing kindness with affection. Up to the very last week of her life she occasionally joined us in our morning prayers in chapel. All who have the pleasure of her acquaintance join in offering heart-felt sympathy with Mr. Yeld in his great bereavement. We have, however, to offer our very heartiest congratulations to T. Watkinson on his ioo Scholarship at Hertford College, Oxford. It is to be hoped that he will follow in the footsteps of his illustrious Headmaster, who belonged to the same college.
