Start your visit to the Galleries in the Portal - a travel office that will equip you for your journey into the world of stories. Then enter the Whispering Wood - a mysterious indoor forest where every tree has a tale to tell. Enjoy live storytelling in the clearing, spot the animals hiding amidst the trees and see if you can pull the sword from the stone and become ruler of the land!
Your story journey continues in the Treasure Chamber where you’ll find our exciting exhibition Here Be Dragons Co-
curated by Cressida Cowell & Toothless. Let Cressida, author of the best-selling series How to Train Your Dragon, guide you through the Vaults of Dragon Lore designed by Tiny and Amy Bicat. Get up close to a pickled dragon in a jar and make yourself a set of dragon claws!
Finally wander between the shelves of the Enchanted Library. Step into eight imaginary story worlds from Narnia to the Hundred Acre Wood, write at the desk used by author CS Lewis, and browse the shelves to find story objects and treasures including an original Clanger and the head of Fungus the Bogey Man! From classic tales such as Alice in Wonderland to new favourites like Noughts and Crosses, you’ll find plenty of stories in which to immerse yourself...

Explore stories, characters, books and writing. Visits can include time exploring our exhibitions alongside a literacy workshop held in the Magic Common Room, our learning space inspired by Hogwarts.
We also offer in-school and online sessions, as well as CPD training on the use of storytelling and the creation of narrative environments.
From early years to university, museum professionals, language schools and home educating groups, we can create a bespoke experience to suit your needs.

Here at The Story Museum we know how special birthdays are, so we’ve put together a fantastic range of themed party packages to suit all ages. Whether you’re after Traditional Tales, Dragons and Knights or you’d prefer to choose a bespoke party, we’ve got it covered. All our parties are led by Story Guides and include a party lunch and party bags, so that all you need to do is invite your friends and enjoy your special day.
