Invited - The Prayer Issue Interior

We mobilize a movement of Christian women to pray and to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Check

We are prayer-filled communities who create environments of warm welcome and gracious hospitality, where relationships and leaders are developed so the Gospel can be shared.

Don’t worry about anything; instead,

pray about everything.

Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.

Philippians4:6-7

From our CEO

Not a Superhero

I pulled up the rumpled tan cloth, smoothing it out the best I could In front of me was a partially stuffed monkey. Half stuffy, half blankey, it was the only thing my eldest son had held onto since infancy It was both well-loved and well-protected It is also the most sacred thing he owns

I had been dreading this project for a year I can handle a needle, but fixing this was a seamstress-level job, and I knew it He didn’t though, and looked at me with his earnest, pre-teen eyes. “I know you can fix it, Mom. Please.”

I pulled out my sharpest scissors and went to work trimming all the ragged pieces of fabric I could feel tears as I remembered his little chubby baby hands clinging to each scrap But with every tear came a bead of sweat He was counting on me to be his hero.

As my kids get older, I realize the day is coming (if it already hasn’t) that they realize I can’t fix everything. I am going to disappoint them, even let them down I will eventually hit the impossible. I will fail. Although I am sad that day is coming, I am secretly overjoyed that I won’t have that pressure anymore It will be a loss but will be a big relief

I think often, for women, there is an immense amount of expectation for us to be and have it all. Whether we work out of the home or inside the home, married or not Managing kids, parents, pets, or whomever makes our days long. It isn’t enough, to just be enough. We must do it all and do it perfectly We are Wonder Woman We are incredible Superheroes

This may not be your story, but it’s a lot of our stories. And much like the heroes on the big screen, it requires us to wear masks, always moving, always alert, always fighting. Even when it’s rewarding at the end, it is exhausting in the middle What would it look like for us to lay down our masks, boots, and capes and accept a new way of being? A new invitation?

Jesus calls to us wonder women, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28) Imagine! The next two verses speak to the very nature of Jesus – he is humble, his heart is gentle He wants to teach us a new way of being that reflects his heart. He offers a yoke and burden that are easy to bear, light in weight.

“There are two ways for us to lay down our superhero capes and experience rest: and get close to each other.” get close to Jesus
-Eliza Cortés Bast

There are two ways for us to lay down our superhero capes and experience rest: get close to Jesus and get close to each other.

The writer of Hebrews reminds us that Jesus knows what it’s like to be in our shoes. He understands our hurt; he gets our disappointment. He faced all the same testing we have faced (Hebrews 4:15) That is why we are encouraged to “ come boldly before the throne of our gracious God” where we find mercy and grace (v. 16). Coming close to the humble heart of one who understands means we can leave our masks at the door Through prayer we come close to Jesus and experience rest in his presence.

The first five chapters of the Acts of the Apostles give a compelling testimony of the power of being together. Luke reminds us that the believers were “together in one place, all meeting together, united in prayer ” Isn’t that incredible?

Something happens when we partner together that cannot happen alone! 1 Corinthians 12:7 reminds us that we are each given gifts so we can help each other. Ecclesiastes says that “Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed” (Ecclesiastes 4:9)

God has gifted someone else with just what I need! I don’t have to bear the heavy burden of being a solitary hero when I can be here for her and she is here for me. The invitation of partnership is the beauty of not having to go it alone.

I finished the monkey, hand stitching with cramped fingers When my son got home, I handed it to him nervously, watching the dodgy edges where I had to improvise There was a lot on the line, and I was anxious for a response

“You did it! Thanks, Mom It’s doesn’t have to be perfect”

Same, Son. Same.

Peace inprayer Peace

“Go out and stand before me on the mountain,” the Lord told him And as Elijah stood there, the Lord passed by, and a mighty windstorm hit the mountain. It was such a terrible blast that the rocks were torn loose, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake And after the earthquake there was a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire And after the fire there was the sound of a gentle whisper When Elijah heard it, he wrapped his face in his cloak and went out and stood at the entrance of the cave. ” (1 Kings 19:11-13- NLT)

I communicate for a living. Week in and week out I travel across the country helping women connect with people in their communities, teaching and training leaders to communicate the Good News of Jesus with others through words and loving actions So, as you can imagine, after a long week I am often “all talkedout”ThismakesmydailyprayerandspendingtimewithGodthepriority

Often, we think of prayer as talking to, or having a conversation with God. We bring Him our praise. We “cast our cares upon Him” as we unload our burdens by telling our loving God what we need Him to shoulder But, if you think about it, that’s a pretty one-sided conversation

One of the things I share with women as I teach them to love one another to Christ is that real and genuine conversation is more about listening than talking. It’s more about hearing and understanding than being heard and understood

That’s why I love the story of God’s appearance to Elijah in 1 Kings 19 Elijah had a lot of questions, and he had a lot to complain about as he felt he was the last servant of God still living. He brought his concerns and cares to God until he was “all talked out” then he did something revolutionary

He was quiet. He was still. And he listened.

In that stillness, as he listened, he heard the gentle whisper of the Spirit of God

I find my prayer life works much the same way My real communication, my real communion (Have you ever noticed how much those words have in common?) with God takes place there.

In the quiet In the stillness In the listening Amen.

the series Genesis

The Genesis series was originally published in 1973 and has been a favorite study of Stonecroft women ever since. We are so excited to reintroduce this treasurewith the same unmatched content inside and a fresh new cover outside.

"Genesis is the majestic account of the beginning of all - except God, for God is eternal. He is the Cause and the Source of all that is. This series of lessons is a study of the first eleven chapters of Genesis." - Lucille Fern Sollenberger, author

Genesis is a book of beginnings which tells us about the creation of our universe and the origin of humanity It also reveals our mighty Creator God, who is the cause and source of all that is.

This study explores the endless power and incomprehensible love of the God who created us - and cares for us - individually and personally.

The voice of a humbledheart

“Your vocal cord is paralyzed,” the doctor said, “I will schedule you for a followup in 6 months.” 6 months? I scribbled in disbelief on the notepad that had become my voice over the past few weeks. “Be sure to use your notepad,” he continued, “do not strain your voice to talk unless absolutely necessary Eddie, it could take months for your voice to return, if ever.”

IF EVER? He excused himself and as he left the examining room my heart sank Reality set in when I was given an appointment card for a future date that seemed like an eternity away

But first, let me tell you about the day when it all began.

I remember it like it was yesterday I was running late and as I stood before my mirror quickly applying mascara a thought dropped into my heart, “You never get on your knees when you pray like you used to” “That’s probably true,” I reasoned in my heart as I began applying mascara to my other eye, “but there are plenty of Biblical examples of people praying in all sorts of positions; laying prostrate, standing, kneeling ” I finished, gathered my things and was out the door Little did I know that the Lord would use that heart conversation to teach me valuable lessons about Himself, my pride, and the power of intercessory prayer.

My friend, Wanda, is a talented radio producer Back in the day it was rumored that although she was in California she had a Rolodex the size of Texas - Wanda knows almost everyone The technology of broadcasting via the internet was new and the station I worked for in Texas had just launched our Listen Live feature via our website Wanda frequently listened to my show and would reach out with encouragement.

We quickly became long-distance friends On the day of my doctor’s visit I shared with her the career threatening diagnosis I had received. After all, an on-air radio personality with no voice is like a concert pianist with no keyboard.

In typical Wanda fashion, she went to work Nowadays, conference calls are common, but at the time they were new. Wanda sent a message that simply said, “I have scheduled a prayer conference call Four of us from across the nation are going to lift you to Jesus!”

The Father silenced my voice in order to

quiet my heart.

It reminded me of the story of friends bringing a paralyzed man to Jesus for healing in the Gospel of Mark (2:1-12). Jesus witnessed the faith and determination of these friends and not only did He forgive the man's sins but also healed him, allowing him to walk once more

In similar fashion, these precious women offered their support. Just as the friends of the paralytic, these women sought the Lord on my behalf. Despite facing obstacles, such as the gathering crowds, the friends persisted in their mission to bring their friend to Jesus These women persisted as well, bringing their faith and belief in miracles

As they prayed their words were like the balm of Gilead washing over me. Suddenly the thought again came to me, “Get on your knees” This time I did not dismiss the still small voice I immediately fell to my knees

Shortly afterward I opened my mouth and my ears heard a scratchy voice emerging. “Jesus,” I whispered, my voice hardly recognizable Again, “Jesus” Wanda shouted, “Eddie, is that you?” I answered “Yes! The Lord is healing me!” All of us began crying and praising God

The Father silenced my voice in order to quiet my heart. He certainly humbled my prideful attitude, was gracious to me by giving me ears to hear His voice and eyes to see His deliverance He showed me the importance of listening to Him.

Oh Father, help us to always be responsive to You and to the needs of others for Your glory Burdens become lighter when shared among friends Jesus said, “When two or more are gathered in My name I am there among them.” (Matthew 18:20).

WhythisBible?

When I walked onto the Stonecroft campus back in 1998 to begin my first real job, I was shuffled into a room with a little lady wearing a pink dress. She had books open all over her desk and she was diligently studying the Bible. I quickly learned something about Lucille Sollenberger - she loved God’s Word and she wanted me to join her in that love! Her aim in life was to serve her Savior by helping women understand the most precious text ever written. Through decades of service, Lucille diligently exegeted the text and wrote what is now known as Stonecroft Bible Studies. She equipped women to guide others in learning about God through His Word. Lucille was “here for her.”

I’d venture to guess that my mentor Lucille would be pretty stoked about the Every Woman’s Bible. Why? Because this Bible has the same goal - to give women clarity on their calling, help them learn insights from others’ stories, and find help for their needs. Just like Lucille, this Bible is “here for her.”

ont women ask. They tackle them head oneven the hard questions!

I’ve enjoyed reading the various theological perspectives of the contributors from around the world. The study notes are written by respected women scholars, who offer historical, cultural, and literary explanations.

I’ve gifted an Every Woman’s Bible to three women I love! I pray God uses it in their lives to show them they have purpose and worth in the eyes of God.

Rejoicing

inrest

“Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”

Matthew 11:29

How many of us have planned a vacation? We work hard, incessantly looking at the calendar, dreaming of the day that vacation will finally begin We sigh to ourselves, “Soon, soon we will take a break and rest.” Then, the long-awaited days arrive and whether you are on those beautiful beaches, in that city that you wanted to visit so much or you have stayed on vacation at home, only to find that still, when our vacation is over, we need a break

We don’t fully feel replenished as we expected to be. Why is that so? Because our mind and our soul never experienced true rest. Because when we arrive at the long-awaited and long-planned destination, we worry about how we look in our swimsuit, we worry about what the other people there will think, we worry about whether we plan the right activities for the family, we think about all the work that is waiting for us when we get home.

We worry about posting that perfect picture in social media, we argue with the children and our partner because it seems that they did not read the “memo” on how they should behave during a vacation, where everyone should be happy and carefree.

In Matthew 11:29 Jesus tells us, “Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” If we find that true rest is slipping out of our lives, it is probably because we are not consciously and intentionally accepting Christ's invitation to us to follow him, obey him, and receive the inheritance he offers us.

The fundamental reason we feel exhausted and overwhelmed is because of the idols in our hearts. Subconsciously (or consciously) we think there is something wrong with us This thought makes us want to value ourselves and give meaning to our existence through what we do and our roles in life: work, reputation, motherhood, our body/health, etc. We think we will eventually be redeemed if we execute these roles well enough and expose them so others can see “how well” we are doing. In other words, these roles, which are gifts from God, become our God, our idols

God, in Genesis at creation, creates human beings in his image and likeness. When creating it he exclaimed, “This is very good.” We have the approval that matters! Not only that, but God shows us a model of rest Rest reflects joy in the product of our work! On the seventh day God rested by rejoicing at what he had created, not looking for flaws or ways he felt short in his job.

Are you rejoicing in the fruit of your labor?

Isaiah 35: 1-2

Even the wilderness and desert will be glad in those days. The wasteland will rejoice and blossom with spring crocuses. Yes, there will be an abundance of flowers and singing and joy!

February 23, 2024 is a day that ushered me into an uninvited identity - that of a caregiver. My mother had transitioned into my home in November of the previous year I imagined our new life together would be spent chatting and enjoying meals and memories I never entertained the idea that I would instead provide and spend my time taking care of her as a new paralytic who no longer could sit up on her own, control her bowel or bladder, nor be able to feel or move anything from above the waist and down. As a registered nurse for 38 years, I had taken care of many people, but this caregiving role was full-time and uncompensated and it involved a shared history between a mother and daughter.

My new identity left me with a slew of emotions and questions, some of which were anger, sadness, loss, compassion, frustration, grief, loneliness, guilt, resentment, physical and emotional exhaustion, and questioning why had God not taken my mother but instead left her to live her remaining days totally dependent on others to meet all of her needs. She did not want this nor did I want this for her.

In the days that followed I quickly understood that if I did not incorporate some self-care and self-protective practices and reframe how I understood my new role, my soul would languish, as anger and resentment was beginning to vie for my heart and mind

I began to understand that living and caring were not on opposite sides of experiencing a full and rich life Henri Nouwen writes: “Patience asks us to live the moment to the fullest, to be completely present to the moment, to taste the here and now, to be where we are When we are impatient we try to get away from where we are ” After reading these words, I made a commitment to thrive in the midst of my desert while remaining committed to being a caregiver.

Here are some lessons I am gleaning and practicing as I walk through the desert and develop a life lens to see beauty in the midst of my journey, through the barren desert caregiving can create:

Give yourself permission to say “No” to others so you could say “Yes” to yourself. This is both self-care and soul-care Some best ways to say yes to yourself include eating good, healthy foods, as food is “Farmacy”, staying hydrated, intentionally creating space for doing the things that bring you joy, praying, taking a walk or other forms of body movement, reading, and simply sitting and doing nothing even if it is only 5 minutes.

Don’t spend time convincing yourself that everything is going to be okay, problem solve instead. Not everything is going to be okay, and some days are filled with angst while other days you feel capable and competent Convincing yourself through positive thinking does not prepare you to identify and exploit opportunities that can aid in easing the burden of caring for yourself and your loved one that problem solving can provide

Ask for and accept help. Give yourself permission to allow others to assist you and ask for assistance. Asking demonstrates strength and builds resilience and lessons the isolation caregiving can create

The desert places in your life bloom whether or not you see it, so seek what is good rather than rehearse what is hard. You can find whatever it is you are looking for, so spend your days and hours looking for what is good in the midst of the hard

Our journey through barrenness is an opportunity to praise God. “In everything give thanks, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:18 I had to decide that instead of living “foul” I was going to have to live out my faith and that faith often requires trials to bring us to a greater knowledge of both ourselves and our relationship to God Learning to praise God in the desert is when your eyes begin to open to the beauty of barrenness as your awareness of God becomes acute, because barrenness strips you of unnecessary and unproductive busyness and distractions.

Finally, caring for another person is simply sharing in a reciprocal relationship that points us to the truth of our own brokenness, and that the person we are caring for has something to teach us about our own blind spots of being broken and in need of care from them as well.

My mother continues to slowly decline and her need for me grows greater each day. My days remain hard, and I still struggle with physical, mental, and emotional exhaustion, however, I cling to the promise that God completes what he begins (Philippians 1:6) Showing up as a caregiver each day is simply the workshop He is using to complete and display the grandeur of His beauty in the midst of desert places. I am learning that caregiving isn’t measured by what I see today, but how I understand each day in light of eternity

Food for Thought

WHERE ARE YOU GOING?

“And He said to them, ‘Come away by yourselves to a lonely place and rest awhile.’ (For there were many people coming and going, and they did not even have time to eat” (Mark 6:31)

“Where are you going for vacation?” Ethel asked, as she greeted the girls in her husband’s office

The three girls reacted, but not in the way she expected

“Don’t talk to me about vacations!” retorted one “We are going so far in such a short time that it is exhausting just to think about it!”

“At least you ’ re going some place!” responded another “We are staying home to paint the house, inside and out!”

The newest secretary said, “I haven’t been here long enough to have any vacation time”

Ethel was not daunted. “Why don’t you do as I do? I grab little vacations all along my daily routine My 15 minute daily vacations in my flower garden are the most relaxing times I have! I plan little trips, like I am doing today, taking the children to the museum I deliberately plan other things, for which I never seem to have time I call these my ‘Vacation-at-home’ activities.

Somehow in our busy culture, the relaxing, refreshing, recreative aspects of vacation have been lost

There is someplace where we can find perfect rest. This is a vacation everyone is invited to take It is within everyone ’ s budget Its influence will never leave us. Anyone who has taken this vacation will recommend it above all others

Excerpt found in the 1976 edition of the Stonecroft Family Cookbook.

This is the kind of vacation you have been looking for. It is to answer the invitation of the Lord Jesus Christ gives to all, “Come to Me all who are weary and heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you, and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and you shall find rest for - your souls For My yoke is easy and My load is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30)

When we come to Jesus, we stop working for our salvation. We stop trying to earn God’s favor by the good things we do Christ gives us the right standing with God as a gift We rest in the full and complete salvation He provides. “Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord, Jesus Christ.” (Romans 5:1)

Won’t you come on this vacation which Christ is offering you for the taking?

“And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who wishes to take the water of life without cost” (Revelation 22:17)

The Secret Weapon intheEvangelist’sArsenal

Nichole Masters-Henry

“Dear God, save my sister, come into my cousin’s life, reveal yourself to my coworker Joann”

Have you uttered these prayers on behalf of loved ones, colleagues, or neighbors? I have Many times I’ve prayed believing these prayers would yield great results I awaited the next time I’d see them, expecting them to share they had heard the call of the Lord, repented, and committed their lives to our Savior. I imagined their conversion experience being a cute story of them feeling an urge one Sunday morning and finding the closest church or returning to their family church. Upon the Pastor’s invitation to come forward they boldly stood to proclaim their new found faith and dedication to a new life in Christ Unfortunately, this rarely happened.

As believers, our hearts ache for those who have not yet encountered the saving grace of Jesus Christ We long to see our unsaved loved ones, friends, and acquaintances come to know Him. While we are sincere, we have not approached the situation with the intensity it requires. In his letter to the Ephesians, the apostle Paul emphasizes the importance of prayer. He urges believers to “put on the full armor of God” (Ephesians 6:10-20) The battle we are fighting is not one of mere flesh and blood but a spiritual battle. Therefore, it requires an intentional and intense effort to win.

Thankfully, we have access to the weapons of war needed to claim victory Paul is careful to include the importance and place of prayer. Not just here but also in his letter to the Colossians (4:2-4) In physical battle soldiers are strategic in warfare, we must be the same when using the tools in our arsenal.

Below are 3 tips to waging war for the souls of the lost:

1. Take Aim

We must go into battle knowing who we are fighting Jesus taught us that we must first bind the strong man before we can spoil his house (Matthew 12:29). In other words, we need to deal with the spiritual forces hindering our loved ones. If your loved one is battling addiction, sickness, or trauma from past hurts these must be addressed (2 Corinthians 4:4) The strongholds must be broken for their eyes and ears to be open to hear the good news If you are unaware of what is blinding them from the Gospel you may pray and ask God to reveal to you what is keeping them bound, what to pray for, and how to set them free

2. Take Authority

As we step into the battlefield, we often face feelings of inadequacy or fear. Like the early disciples, we need boldness to proclaim the gospel. We must pray with boldness and absolute belief in the words of Scriptures, God’s authority and heart for the lost, and our ability to intercede on their behalf. Identify scriptures that declare your power and authority as a believer Have these ready in moments of doubt and fear

“Prayer is our most

formidable weapon.

When we pour our prayers into heaven, the forces of darkness weaken.”
Nichole Masters-Henry

3. Take Action

Prayer is our most formidable weapon. When we pour our prayers into heaven, the forces of darkness weaken. James wrote, “Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up If they have sinned, they will be forgiven… The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective ” (James 5:13-16)

As you pray, trust that God’s Word will not return void. It will accomplish its purpose (Isaiah 55:11) Keep interceding, believing that the salvation of your loved ones is within reach

God’s Word is powerful and effective. Use Scripture in your prayers:

Pray for the light of the Gospel to shine in their hearts (2 Corinthians 4:4) Ask God to send laborers into their lives (Matthew 9:37-38).

Prayer in evangelism is not an afterthought; it is the heartbeat of our mission. As we pray, let us trust that God will use our words, actions, and love to draw people to Himself.

May we continue to intercede for the lost, believing that prayer changes hearts and transforms lives.

“The women were so loving and welcoming. I realized the speaker knew God in a way that I didn’t and I hoped that someday I would.”

Each month across the nation not-yet believers are hearing the Gospel of Jesus There are loving spaces where women are welcomed with food, fellowship, and a life changing message. These outreach events are the result of many hands Hands that have prayed for God’s guidance on national calls and in meetings each month Hands that have read training materials on sharing testimonies, dialed a phone for staff support, and searched the website for resources Hands that have lovingly prepared decorations and food all in anticipation of the one who would come Hands that hold Bibles and studies across the nation leading women into a deeper relationship with Jesus The relationship that transforms hearts and sends out many more women.

Susan visited a group like this just over 50 years ago She encountered women that had been trained to share their stories, create loving communities, and guide her in Bible studies to grow her faith Each month many women visit groups just like Susan

Just as these women pray, plan, and volunteer monthly, a faithful community of givers called Sower’s Circle make this ministry possible.

Your monthly donation ensures that women are equipped with training, resources are created to help women grow, and groups are supported to create loving communities Monthly giving ensures that the support systems are always in place to be here for you, so you can be here for her.

The need is great, and your monthly gift is a wonderful way to multiply your impact. By giving faithfully out of your budget each month, your impact grows to mobilize even more women.

“Stonecroft has impacted so many women over 85 years and I know that my monthly gift ensures 85 more years of impact. It is comforting to know my gift makes it possible for women to be served each month.”

StoryMarks

Our host was all smiles as she showed us the display of beautiful pictures of women and the stories of their tattoos She introduced us to some of the models. We mingled and enjoyed snacks until it was time for the event to begin. There were a couple of small business owners set up at the back of the room There was a small room to the rear where children played so their moms were able to attend the event

Before long, an emcee went to the mic to welcome everyone and introduce the event and the first speaker

One woman after another shared the story of her tattoo and all of them were rooted in their identity. From music, to relationships, to faith, each had a story that revealed a piece of her life.

At one point, the emcee invited up one of the small business owners who had been seated at the back of the room She hadn't been scheduled to speak, but she had an especially meaningful tattoo and was inspired by the other women She asked to spontaneously share her story. The Prayer Issue | Pg

Her name was Brandy

Brandy took the mic with both her hands and her voice trembling She didn't have a script on a paper or a phone to follow She just spoke from her heart

She turned around and dropped the top of her sweater to reveal a tattoo high on her back "This tattoo represents each of my four children A year ago, you wouldn't have recognized me. I was homeless and hooked on meth. I was doing all I could to feed my addiction, and it finally cost me my children When you lose your kids, you lose just about everything I realized I needed a way out, and I began a long journey. I became part of a local ministry who helped me get on my feet and begin to rebuild my life I asked God to help me. I don't have my kids back yet, but one day I will. I am grateful for a second chance."

She quietly gave back the mic and returned to her seat

At the end of the event, one of the hosts shared how we, too, could follow Jesus and invited us to pray a silent prayer with her. After it was over, Brandy asked if she could join the group regularly, and of course she was welcomed in.

We are here for you, so you can be here for her - and for the millions of women like Brandy who are looking for a community to belong.

Story Marks is an outreach that is reaching women across the nation. If you'd like to learn how to host one, we are happy to help.

A NOTE FROM THEHost

We chose to offer Story Marks as a unique w to connect with women of all generations a backgrounds in a non-threatening a welcoming environment The mission Stonecroft is to see women reconciled wi God through Jesus Christ, and we believe th everyone has a story worth sharing. Tatto often symbolize personal journeys, struggl and triumphs, and we wanted to use this as medium to showcase how God works throu our lives. By creating an event where wom can express themselves and feel seen, value heard, and appreciated, we hoped to bu bridges to not-yet believers.

Looking ahead, we plan to expand Story Marks to reach more communities We aim to host more events in different cities, allowing more women to share their stories and connect with others. We also hope to incorporate additional elements such as workshops and support groups to further empower women in their personal and spiritual growth. Ultimately, our goal is to continue creating spaces where women can experience God’s love and find extraordinary purpose in their lives through their unique stories.

What is Evangelism? RELATIONAL

Many Christian women want to share their faith but aren't sure how. They see how many people need to know God's love and they long to share the experience they've had with Jesus. They are burdened for their families, their communities, and the world.

Sometimes we think evangelism is only for those who preach, teach, and lead. Really, it is a command for anyone who follows Jesus. We know that and yet many of us just don't feel ready or comfortable even though we believe deeply.

Relational Evangelism Bootcamp and Coaching offer simple steps to help guide the way.

In both versions of Relational Evangelism, you'll learn easy and practical ways to reach those around you. Starting with a focus on praying for the spiritual lives of those around you, and then becoming intentional in your awareness of people and opportunities. You'll learn how to listen well and with the Holy Spirit. You'll be able to lean into conversations with spiritual conversations that help lead others to explore their own beliefs and seek God.

Explore the two different versions of Relational Evangelism, and we encourage youtoprayerfullyconsiderwhichmightbehelpfulforyourownequipping.

COACHING

Coaching is offered in community of a few women who all value learning together and growing their own confidence in sharing their faith. Each session is led by a trained guide. She helps you take a deep dive into each topic, and together the group practices what they've learned, and then discuss it the next week. The coach helps participants think about how to continue to define their personal evangelism style, increasing their impact and effectiveness.

Coaching is $24, and includes the Relational Evangelism Guidebook.

God’s9-1-1Line

ByGigiGrahamTchividjianExcerptfromtheAugust/September1998editionof“Progress”

It doesn’t take much to make me cross. I tend to have a low frustration level, especially in the morning before I’ve had a cup of coffee. I remember one morning some years ago when, before I had that first important cup, quite a number of small, insignificant problems converged upon me all at once.

I had been up several times during thenightwiththenewbaby, sowhen the alarm went off, I groaned in disbelief. Slowly, I pulled myself out of bed and groped my way downstairs toward the coffee pot. I hadn’t even reached the stairs before I heard voices-loudvoices-comingfromthe kitchen.

Timidly, opening the door, I discovered a before-school-free-for-all taking place. Gathering what little strength I had, I tried to ignore it just long enough to reach the coffee pot. As I crossed the kitchen, the two yearold spilled a glass of orange juice. I couldn’t believe how far one little glassofjuicecouldgo.Everywhere!

Detouring to the broom closet, I grabbed the mop. Just as I finished cleaning up the spilled juice, the five-year-old spilled his. Before the second cleanup was complete, it was time for the four older children to leave for school.

Suddenly, Stephan - Nelson, the oldest, remembered that he had neither done his chores nor gathered his scattered gym clothes. The fiveyear-old screamed, for no apparent reason, then hit the two-year-old, who began to wail. I grabbed for the five-year-old (still no coffee) and yelled at the oldest, who seemed frozen in place, to get moving. The nine year old decided this was a good time to keep things stirred up by ridiculing his older brother. When I scolded him, he had the nerve to answerbackandarguewithme.

Stillnocoffee.

As if this were not enough, Stephan-Nelson turned to me, and said, “If having seven kids is like this, I don’t want any. And why did you have so many anyway?”

I somehow managed to comb the different heads of hair, wash remains of breakfast off their faces, help do chores, and hustle the older children out the door Then I wearily turned again toward the coffee pot, to see the two year-old drinking a bottle of pancake syrup. He saw the look in my eye, and before I could reach him, he turned the bottle upside down and poured syrup all over the carpet. I felt myself slipping into a long, loud scream.

And I still hadn’t had any coffee.

On that chaotic morning, I was at my wit’s end. I spent all my energy on foolish arguments, needless messes, senseless emergencies, confusion, and noise until I had nothing left to give.

I discovered early in life that it’s times like these when I need to simply to be alone with the Lord Coming quietly and reverently into His presence changes my attitude and my disposition. I follow the advice of Isaiah, “ enter your chambers, and shut your doors behind you; Hide yourself, as it were, for a little moment, until the indignation is past” (Isaiah 26:20, NKJV) Usually, if I can slip off alone with the Lord, it doesn’t take long for me to settle down and feel rejuvenated enough to tackle whatever comes next.

But some days are so hectic. I simply don’t have the time to slip away. Recently, I had one of those days. The kids, the grandchildren, the weather, the leak in the roof, the broken garbage disposal, and my hormones were out of control And we were expecting 50 guests for lunch!

At such times, instant, spontaneous prayers are called for. The “Oh Lord, please help me!”

Kind of prayers.

At those moments, I understand how Peter must have felt when he looked around at his situation; deep water, choppy seas, wind and waves all around, and suddenly remembered he could not really walk on water after all. Realizing he was vulnerable and feeling circumstances out of control, Peter panicked and began to sink. But on his way down, he called out and immediately the Lord reached out His hand and lifted him up.

The apostle Paul, however, reminds me not to wait until I’m sinking. He says, “Pray, continually.” (1 Thessalonians 5:17) or in the King James version, “Pray without ceasing,” this means I am to keep the lines of communication with God open at all times.

I was so touched and encouraged by something F B Meyer once wrote: “Of course there will be times when we shall deliberately bow our knees into the father; but there will be more when we shall have access to Him in a swift, winged thought, a tear hastily brushed away, a yearning, a loving, restful glance of mutual understanding. Strange that we make so little of these wonderful opportunities of access to the father.”

It helps to slip away to a private place whenever you can. Get on your knees with a prayer journal whenever you can. Enjoy an extended conversation with your heavenly father whenever you can.

And remember, God does not have a call waiting or voicemail, but he does have a 9-1-1 line. And He answers every call

Even before you’ve had your coffee

PS Stephan-Nelson, the one who vowed he would “never have children,” is now married with several children of his own.

Pray Play&

If you ' re looking for a resource to use at home that helps young children connect with God, then you'll want to know about Pray & Play You can host it as an outreach and invite other mothers to join in, or you can use it in your own home to nurture their love for God.

Below is a sample devotional from the Pray & Play book:

From “Seeds” (Author Unknown):

A little seed for me to sow

A little earth to make it grow

A little hole, a little pat,

A little wish, and that is that,

A little sun, a little shower

A little while And then, a flower!

Discuss with the children what it takes to grow a plant from a seed. You can demonstrate this by having some sunflower seeds, a small pot with soil, and a watering can.

Talk to them about how we need to be watered with the Word of God daily in order to grow spiritually.

View the digital version here:

Share a story of when you took a stand for God or another person.

Were you scared? What was the outcome?

Discuss with your child how taking a stand for God might mean they have to explain why they attend church or why they pray.

Remind them to do everything with gentleness and love.

Remind them they are never alone; God will help them.

Verse to Remember

“Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind”

Romans 12:2, NIV

Prayer Time Let us worship the Lord in His greatness and holiness, praising Him for providing and protecting us.

Prayer

Ashley Moon

I am a gift giver I love the thrill of searching for just the right thing or stumbling upon it by chance and then beautifully wrapping it up (thank you Hallmark college job experience) and watching someone ’ s face when they open it. I love to get gifts for my husband and our daughter, for members of my church, for co-workers and even my neighbors The best gifts come in all forms and speak to the receiver’s heart and needs. Maybe it’s a silly toy to brighten their day or some baked goods that allow them to feel noticed and cared for.

The greatest gift that gets forgotten, overlooked and unnoticed, is prayer Whether you ’ re needing a pick-me-up yourself or wanting to do something impactful for someone else We know that prayer is essential in the lives of all believers but there is an unexplainable shift that happens in the atmosphere when we intercede on behalf of others.

Intercessory prayer is to intervene on behalf of someone else and to fight for their victory When we pray, we don’t settle for second best - we ask for God’s best! When I pray for my daughter, there are times I’m so aware of the existence of spiritual warfare Whether I’m quietly and calmly asking God to bless her, crying out for Him to heal her body, declaring God’s promises over her or just speaking victory over her future and relationship with God - I know that God hears and cares for all of it. I know that God can use my prayers; and yours, to move heaven and earth

To intercede for someone is THE most powerful and practical way we can express our love for them

1 John 5:14-15: And this is the confidence that we have toward Him, that if we ask anything according to His will He hears us And if we know that He hears us in whateverweask, weknowthatwehavetherequeststhatwehaveaskedofHim

I know that the prayers over me have been heard and answered, because I’m here right now! I know there were moments in my life that God healed me, God protected me, God kept my heart soft God provided perfectly and God strengthened my faith when it made no sense.

Think right now of where you would be if you did not have people in your life who prayed for you? 1 Timothy 2:1 says, “First of all, then I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgiving be made for all people”

If you aren’t praying for them, who is?

Ephesians 6:17-18 tells us to, “take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints”

If you’re not sure how to intercede for others, start by declaring God’s promises over them.

Romans 12:10-12 tell us, “ Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves Never be lacking in zeal but keep your spiritual favor, serving the Lord Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer ”

What greater gift or service can we give our children, our spouses, our Stonecroft Family, our community than to regularly pray for them?

Every moment you spend in prayer over someone else is time you are investing in them, in the Kingdom of heaven and in growing your own faith.

Prayer is not a backup plan, it is our greatest asset! Instead of struggling and wracking your brain with what to do and how to do it - give it to God and let prayer do the heavy lifting! You can pray big, even when you feel weak You can declare promises, when you don’t have the right words You can claim victory, even when you are in the valley.

We are called to follow Christ’s example and Scripture tells us that He is regularly interceding on our behalf! How beautiful is that love? How beautiful is it to pray for someone else?

It is impossible to measure the power of your prayers through the authority and truth of God.

Sometimes change is hard! How many times have you had plans laid out that you were certain were iron-clad, only to have something (or many things!) change those plans?

Today’s story of impact is about two faithful women, Julie and Cindy, who were not afraid to have their plans changed. Their story of obedience helped create a needed space for young women to connect, be part of a loving community, and to grow into leaders. Julie and Cindy had already planned their outreach for the year, but health issues, travel, and other obstacles made it impossible for the usual volunteers to serve. So, they put the event on hold and started asking God how He wanted them to reach women in the community.

During this time, they traveled to a Stonecroft event and were inspired by the book Ordinary People, Extraordinary Influence. They bought a few copies, not knowing exactly how they would use them. Back home, they were moved to start small groups in their homes. They invited women of all ages and gifted them with a study. This simple obedience created a powerful space for women to learn how they were loved and could be extraordinary influencers. The older and younger women supported each other through life’s challenges, whether it be caring for young children, divorce, or struggles with depression, growing together towards a community of influence. Many of the women experienced transformation and started new groups

When you give to Stonecroft you mobilize women just like this. You equip leaders like Julie and Cindy to create welcoming spaces in their communities for women, produce resources for them to use, make it possible for staff to come alongside leaders in prayer, support, and training, and launch generations of leaders to reach women where they are, as they are

Pray for us, too, that God will give us many opportunities to speak about his mysterious plan concerning Christ.

Colossians 4:3 (NLT)

Dear Beloved Stonecroft Family,

WehopeyouhavebeeninspiredbyThePrayerIssueofInvited.

There are few things that define Stonecroft more clearly than women praying together In 1938, we began with a group of women praying together for God to move in their own families and cities, and for God to bring revival. As these women prayed, they heard God inviting them to reach those around them

That one group turned into 24 prayer groups, all over a single city God continued to move, and these women began to hold outreaches where they shared the love of Jesus with new women and then invited them to follow Jesus

Isn’t that the model of how God always works? When we begin to pray for change, for transformation, or for people to know Jesus, we find that God makes us aware of opportunities and guides us to step into them.

Who are you praying with? Who are you praying for? What is God calling you to do?

If we want to be Here for Her, we start with praying for her. We can pray for God to help us see her, to love her well, and to find creative ways to connect and serve her We can pray for God to help us know how to reveal His invitation to to her.

May this issue inspire and encourage you to pray, and to ask others to join you “Pray also for us, that God may open to us a door for the word, to declare the mystery of Christ…” Colossians 4:3

Here for You, so you can be Here for Her,
