Founded in 1883, we are one of the country’s longest established football clubs. Based at Edgeley Park in the heart of Stockport’s community since 1902, the club boasts not only success on the pitch but also a raft of national community awards. We have earned an enviable reputation in the game and have an army of supporters of all ages.
As we embark on our return to the third tier of English football for the first time in 14 years, our sights are firmly set on Championship football in the coming seasons. The successes and lessons of the previous season have further fuelled our determination to elevate our performance and bring pride to the Stockport community. The club’s pioneering and professional approach has attracted a wide selection of corporate partners both locally and nationally including the likes of Vitality & Together.
The County Journey
Since the takeover by Mark Stott in 2020, the Club has seen significant investment across key areas such as the First Team, Academy, Football Education, Community Trust as well as the Carrington Training Centre – which has allowed the team to follow a Premier League standard training programme.
The facility offers multiple pitches, a gym, recovery rooms, a players lounge as well as a dedicated chef. A perfect set-up for our First Team players and the next generation of County players – the Academy scholars.
Edgeley Park has seen extensive refurbishment including a complete renovation of the interior event space. The stadium now features eight stylish new function rooms with modern finishes and high-tech equipment. Other works include brand new dressing rooms, brand-new retail store, new seating as well as new cladding on the exterior.
The Club has agreed terms with Stockport Council on a 250-year lease for Edgeley Park, the lease allows the Club to build upon its existing investment into infrastructure,
ensuring that further investment can be made on the ground and its facilities. The Club have submitted a planning application to increase the overall capacity of Edgeley Park, in a series of phases, from 10,852 up to approximately 18,305.
The future of Stockport County is bright – the decisions taken over the last four years have prioritised the long-term future of the Club whilst aiming to have a positive impact on the town and its people. With more ambitious projects planned, it’s an exciting time to get involved.

Stockport County to roll out free PE kits initiative for Stockport’s primary school kids.
In a bid to encourage children to become more active and engaged in PE, Stockport County and County Community Trust has launched a new initiative to help provide PE kits to pupils in Stockport’s primary schools.
The aim of the 12-month campaign is to raise enough funds to supply 12,500 PE kits to primary school children in September 2025.
Alison Warwood, Stockport County Community Trust CEO said: “Getting primary school children active and engaged in PE is incredibly important for their physical wellbeing and development. Not having a PE kit, shouldn’t be what stops children from taking part in physical activity. The school’s ‘lost and found’ bin sadly comes with a playground stigma, and if children are to
enjoy PE in school, they need their own kit they can take pride in.
As a result, the Club’s owner, Mark Stott has agreed to fund 3,500 PE kits for Stockport’s primary school children in September, targeting families through schools who’re most in need, including those families who fall outside of traditional indicators such as universal credit and the pupil premium and receive little-to-no help.”
In Stockport’s most deprived areas, it’s thought that up to 90% of primary school children could benefit from an initiative such as this, as a result, the club aims to raise enough funds so that it can provide 12,500 PE kits for primary school children in 2025. To help reach this goal, £2 from every Stockport
County shirt sold next season will go towards funding the kits.
Each kit will comprise a white t-shirt, a pair of shorts, a sweatshirt and a pair of jogging bottoms, along with a gym bag.
