NEW! BALL RUN HIKING PATH – AN ADVENTURE FOR ALL THE FAMILY
Experience an inspiring highlight at Toni’s Alpine Playground in Mühlbach am Hochkönig – the ball run hiking path, which is over 2 kilometres in length! Nestling in a dreamy mountain setting, this circular path (not suitable for prams) also tempts you to play at wonderfully designed ball run stations, marvel at and enjoy the natural surroundings. Thrills, fun and breath-taking views make this an unforgettable experience.
OUR LITTLE GEM – THE LÄRCHALM
Just a 20-minute leisurely walk from the hotel is the Lärchalm, a genuine gem amid the natural surroundings. Nestling in an idyllic setting, it is the perfect place to leave the daily grind behind and enjoy unforgettable moments together.
HIKE TO BÜRGLALM
Starting point: Übergossene Alm Resort
Walking time: approx. 2.5 h
Difficulty level: medium Metres ascent: approx. 500 m
Direct from Übergossene Alm Resort, this path takes you into the natural experiences provided by the Hochkönig. After around 200 metres as you head for Dienten Saddle, you will come to Zachhof car park – it is here that your hike starts. Pass the idyllic Liebenaualm, following the forest trail which takes you on a steady uphill through the forest and up to the Bürglalm.
Once you get there it isn’t only the breath-taking view that you get to enjoy, there is the Bürglalm‘s speciality too – their ‘Kaiserschmarrn’ pancakes - which are prepared with so much care and attention, and known far and wide – perfect for a delicious stop-off.
Replenished, you continue your journey, passing the mountain station for the Bürglalmbahn, until you reach Wastlhöhe (1,737 m). The panoramic views to the surrounding mountains is your reward for the ascent. From here, a short - somewhat steeper - path leads down to the Zachhofalm, which you pass, and then head back on to the forest path which takes you back to the starting point at Übergossene Alm Resort.
Hop on your E-Bike!
ENJOYING NATURE MEETS ELATION
20 official E-Mountain bike and mountain bike routes in the Hochkönig region send heart rates soaring in this breath-taking setting. Around 20,000 metres of ascent bring you closer to your very own feeling of elation, and thanks to the E-charging points in the region, pushing the pedals is always a doddle.

Your E-bike tour from Übergossene Alm Resort starts with a relaxing descent into the village of Dienten, where you follow the minor B-road out of the valley towards Lend. After around 3 kilometres take a right and follow the ‘Dacheben’ agricultural road up to Hirschegg and Scheibegg farms (approx. 1.5 km).
From here, the route continues via a forest trail to Grüneggalm – the perfect opportunity for a break since there is an E-bike charge station there.
The descent back to Dienten follows an asphalt agricultural road (approx. 2 km), which takes you direct to the ski centre. Via Reizegg you eventually get back to Übergossene Alm Resort, where you can relax and unwind after your tour.

Sourdough and meadow flowers
SOURDOUGH IS SO MUCH MORE THAN DOUGH – IT IS A LIVING SYNERGY OF NATURE AND TIME.
In conjunction with traditional artisanal craft, flavour, nature and health come together. This centuries-old art of baking yields breads, such as our own ‘Almkruste’, that are not just wonderfully aromatic, but which are also good for your body. The natural micro-organisms promote healthy digestion, while the lengthy maturation of the dough makes the bread more digestible and rich in nutrients.

INGREDIENTS
400 ml warm water
– 190 g sourdough
– 300 g rye flour
– 200 g wheat flour
– 20 g salt
– 10 g blend of spices for bread (caraway seeds, aniseed, fennel seeds, coriander)
– Alpine meadow herbs
METHOD
–
Add all the ingredients to a mixing bowl and – using a dough hook attachment - process for around 10 minutes to create a smooth, homogenous dough.
– Leave the dough rest for 3 hours, carefully turning and folding every 30 minutes to improve the structure of the dough.
– Shape the dough into a smooth ball, without kneading any further.
– Place the ball of dough into a banneton dusted with flour, cover with a cloth and leave in a warm place for a further 2 to 3 hours.
– Pre-heat your oven to 250 °C. Bake the dough for around 20 minutes in either a cast iron pot with a lid, or on a baking tray with a cover. Spray or pour some water into the oven several times to create steam – this will ensure you achieve a crisp crust.
– Remove the lid, reduce the temperature to 180 °C and bake the bread for a further 30 minutes until golden brown and crisp.
– Coat the loaf with egg white and sprinkle over Alpine meadow herbs. Bake for another 2 minutes in the oven to ensure the egg white is cooked.
– Place the loaf on a rack to cool, then enjoy.

… they make the world lovelier and more vibrant. So we would like to give you an insight into the organization of and philosophy behind our varietypacked summer programme for children. We asked Lee, manager of Kinderalm, about this.
What educational approaches do you and your team pursue as part of the children’s programme?
We encourage children’s creativity and imagination by communicating with them at their level, providing them with security and guidance, while also giving them space to freely develop. This is how we consolidate a sense of community, build trust, and ensure they experience joy and have fun.
What outdoor activities do you offer to make nature more accessible to children?
In summer our Kinderalm provides an extensive outdoor play paradise with a supervised playground where children can run about to their hearts’ content, play in the sand, drive go-karts and play on the slides, while enjoying the wonderful views to the mountains and the lush pastures. When we have an appropriate number of children, we also organise excursions to farms and to attractions like Toni‘s Alpine Playground, where the children get to experience nature.
What
are the loveliest moments in your job?
The trusting relationship that children and parents place in us is evident in many moments – sincere children’s laughter when they are delighted to see us again, their lovely paintings or homecrafted gifts, and the way they run into rooms as though they are right at home. It is especially touching to experience how they acquire new skills and regard us as being their trusted caregiver.
