Winter activities in Stubaital

Skiing

Skiing in one of the four ski areas in Stubaital provides unforgettable skiing adventures. Enjoy a variety-packed winter holiday on the Stubai Glacier where a wide range of sports are available and snow is guaranteed from October to May, Schlick 2000 ski centre has lots of traditional Alpine inns and a ski run into the village, the Elferbahnen ski area has an action-packed selection of tobogganing options available day and night, while the Serlesbahnen ski area has pistes, tobogganing and adventure-filled winter hiking options that are ideal for families and beginners.

Winter hiking

On 80 kilometres of cleared and well signposted paths holidaymakers who enjoy getting out and being active can let their thoughts roam while out discovering enchanting winter in Stubaital during a winter hike.

Snow-shoe hiking

Anyone who hikes through Stubai’s winter landscape in snowshoes, is grasping nature with all their senses.

Tobogganing

In Stubaital experience Tyrol’s biggest tobogganing arena which has 10 toboggan runs spanning a total length of 41 kilometres - a tobogganing session away from the pistes that is incomparably lovely! Right next to our hotel, at the valley station for the Elferbahnen you enjoy convenient access to the gondola and head into the skiing and tobogganing area. Two natural toboggan runs, each 6 km in length, proceed from our local mountain, inspiring all ages. A highlight during any holiday is nighttime tobogganing on the floodlit toboggan run (when snow conditions permit).

Ski touring

This variety-packed sport enables you to get out and experience Stubai in a manner that is beyond compare. During a winter holiday away from the piste, with skins beneath your tour skis, a wide range of routes opens up for every level of difficulty through dense spruce forests and across wide alpine meadows to the most famous peaks of the Stubaital.

Ice climbing

Climbing on the frozen waterfalls is a special adventure. It is often referred to as the supreme discipline of alpinism due to the high climbing and safety requirements and the experience needed (e.g. assessing ice stables and the risk of avalanches).

Ice-skating

There are three ice skating rinks in total which provide the perfect experience on the ice in Stubai - the ice rink in Neustift, Klaus Äuele natural ice rink and the ice-skating arena in Fulpmes. Enjoy some pirouetting here and competition during a curling match.

Cross-country skiing

There are over 40 km of tracked trails in all altitude locations for you to live out your favourite sport, including the floodlit Stubai night-time trail for cross-country adventures in the evening, breath-taking backdrops and the opportunity to absorb the variety-filled winter landscape.

For the good of the environment

Cleaning

Our motto is to avoid waste wherever possible, and to cleanly separate any waste produced. During cleaning we only use biologically harmless and degradable products.

We enjoy the fresh air, the still largely untouched natural surroundings and the abundance of wildlife. And we think it should stay this way: We are committed to responsibly handing resources and protecting nature. So we plan to improve the sustainability of our work step by step.

Regionality

For over 40 years, since the establishment of the hotel, we have worked together with local producers. Whether it’s carpenters, repairmen, plumbers, building and construction workers, electricians or painters – all work hand in hand.

Regionality is important to us! We intentionally rely on seasonality and regionality because: Culinary enjoyment is essential at the Sporthotel Neustift. Therefore, the excellent quality and knowledge of origin of the products is of vital importance to us and our kitchen team.

Particular attention is paid to the use of environmentally friendly raw materials, as well as ensuring an efficient, sustainable manufacturing process when developing the products. All products have been awarded multiple certifications, including the Austrian Ecolabel and the EU Ecolabel. These are a testament both to the products’ environmental compatibility and cleaning performance – resulting in a great feeling and perfect cleaning results.

Energy

For decades, sustainable power production harnessing the power of water has played a key role in Stubaital. That is why we are doing our bit to provide sustainable energy too. Since spring 2024 we have been using our own photovoltaic facility to produce energy to power our wellness area.

Anyone who has ever been to Sporthotel Neustift knows that Senior Manager Rudi Pfurtscheller is a real wine connoisseur. Indeed, not only does he have a passion for exquisite wines, he is a collector too! There are over 30.000 bottles in his wine cellar, including numerous Austrian white wines and sweet wines, along with Italian and French reds and genuinely rare wines too. He has passionately selected the wines himself, drawing upon his expert knowledge.
