CO-CURRICULAR HANDBOOK 2025
CO-CURRICULAR AT ST LUKE’S
At St Luke’s Grammar School, our Co-Curricular Program is fundamental to developing the whole person – nurturing students who are resourceful, reflective, relational, restorative and resilient. We believe that true education extends far beyond the classroom, and our comprehensive program offers students from Cottage to Year 12 countless opportunities to discover their passions, develop their talents and build the character traits that will serve them throughout their lives.
Through sport, performing arts, spoken arts and diverse clubs and activities, students develop essential capabilities including self-awareness, emotional management, perseverance, curiosity, collaboration, empathy and decision-making skills. These experiences foster deep relationships, build character through both triumph and adversity, and create a strong sense of belonging within our School community where every student can contribute their unique God given gifts with grace and humility.
Our location on Sydney’s stunning Northern Beaches allows our program to take full advantage of this beautiful natural environment to nourish both body and spirit. From early morning runs along the coast to water sports on Narrabeen Lakes, mountain biking through scenic trails, and our renowned surf programs, students connect with
nature while developing physical fitness, environmental awareness and the joy that comes from movement and outdoor exploration.
Every student is encouraged to participate in our Co-Curricular Program, regardless of their skill level or experience. Whether a student aspires to representative honours or simply wants to try something new, our inclusive approach ensures that everyone is welcomed, supported and challenged to reach their potential. Our dedicated staff, including specialist coaches and professionals, provide expert guidance and mentorship that extends well beyond skill development to character formation and meaning-making.
The benefits of co-curricular participation are welldocumented – from improved academic performance and enhanced wellbeing to the development of crucial life skills. At St Luke’s, we see these benefits realised daily as our students grow in confidence, learn to manage challenges with resilience, forge lasting friendships through collaboration and discover talents they never knew they possessed. Most importantly, our program instills a love of lifelong learning, service to others and active participation that extends far beyond their school years, preparing them to make a meaningful contribution to their communities and world.
