TURNERS HILL PARISH NEWS SEPTEMBER 2020 PUBLISHED BY ST LEONARD’S CHURCH Edition Number 399

THE CROWN RE-OPENS - A WELCOME SIGN With that sultry summer lockdown heatwave behind us, we step towards autumn with hopes that it brings us a steady, safe return to everyday normality. One welcome sign for the village is the re-opening of our flagship hostelry The Crown after five months of covid-enforced closure. Landlord Phil Shoubridge and his team are now firmly back in business with their smartly re-furbished pub and restaurant. Comfortable, sociallydistanced layouts are installed inside and out. The Crown resumes its rightful place as a happy haven of village hospitality, alongside the Red Lion which was able to re-open in July. •The Crown team back in business. From left: Molly Shoubridge (with baby Felix), Mike Richards, Will Maskell, Lindsey Kovacs, Alex Latus and Matt Wimbush. ********************

INSIDE THIS EDITION…… ARTS SOCIETY TURNERS HILL introduces its new Chairman LESLEY CROUCHER. The PARISH COUNCIL gives news of the Mid Sussex District Council development plan consultation; and also reports a new burial ground planning application from Hartmires Investments. Our FIRE & RESCUE CREWS had yet another action-packed month; and the NHS seeks feedback on how we fared in lockdown. This month’s centre-spread features village stalwart, MAVIS STANBRIDGE. Sadly, we publish the OBITUARY of popular village resident, TOM SHEA. All this and more inside…. ___________________________________________________________________________
