Do you have a favorite place to go to listen to music? Perhaps your back patio, or somewhere you can look outside to your tree line, or even perhaps a nearby park? Music and nature can both play positive and powerful roles in our lives, and there may be no one who understands this as well as Chuck Leavell. Not long after joining the music scene in Macon in the 1970s, Leavell was asked to join the legendary Allman Brothers Band. Today he plays the keys for the Rolling Stones. In between, he discovered a new respect and passion for our country’s forests and natural resources. In this issue, learn how this rock n’ roll family man planted roots in both worlds.
The Stones’ latest tour, by the way, had to be postponed so that singer Mick Jagger could undergo a TAVR procedure for a damaged heart valve. St. Joseph’s/Candler has been performing this state-of-the-art, minimally-invasive procedure for years, giving many people in our region a new lease on life. Learn more about TAVR in this issue.
