It is a great privilege to welcome you to St Joseph’s College U11 Football Festival 2025 This tournament is an exciting platform for talented young football players to showcase their skills and gain exposure to competitive tournament play. As a College, we are very proud to be hosting this

The thriving Prep sports programme acts as the foundation for an all-through school of sporting excellence. This broad, balanced sports programme is delivered in our exceptional facilities, encouraging a lasting love of sport for a healthy and happier life Not only do we pride ourselves on the inclusivity and breadth of our sporting programme, but also on the standard of coaching that our students receive. At St Jo’s Prep, girls and boys have the unique opportunity to experience sector-leading tuition from exceptional practitioners in both the educational and professional sporting worlds. Our programme allows players to participate and persevere. It also provides a platform to perform. We do, of course, have an ultimate ambition to develop the next 1st team players at the College, giving our pupils the opportunity to reach the highest level of youth sport and beyond, as reflected in our recent PE and Games provision alignment. We believe no student has a sporting ambition too great and we aim to foster and support the highest of goals for our young athletes. Supporting this are our programme for Sports Scholars, College performance pathways and sector-leading practitioners, all improving the quality of competitive sports teams. More holistically, through our PE and Games provision, our mission is to raise awareness, confidence and responsibility, equipping pupils to make good decisions in life and on the pitch.

U11 Football Rules

Format of play:

Girls Tournament: 5v5 Duration of play: 7 minutes

(straight through)

Boys Tournament: 7v7 Duration of play: 7 minutes

(straight through)

Substitutions: Substitutions can be made at any time during the play with the referee’s permission. (Roll on roll off substitutes)

Laws of the Game:

Goalkeepers: Goalkeepers may handle the ball anywhere within the goalkeeper area. Goalkeepers can use feet or hands to play out.

Throws in: Normal throw-in rules

Free kicks: All free kicks will be direct and the opposition will be at least 5 yards from the ball until it is played.

Penalty box: No restrictions on the number of players allowed in the penalty area.

Goal kicks: Goal kicks from the edge of the penalty area

Kick off: To start a the game or when a goal is scored it will start from a centre kick.

Penalties: Penalties to be taken from the penalty spot.

Footwear: Football boots, trainers or Astroturf boots are allowed.

Offside: No offside rule.

No Headers: Indirect free kick

No height restrictions
