This year, the intermediate girls qualified for the ESSA National Swimming Championships at the London Aquatic Centre, where they placed 18th in the 4x50 freestyle and 14th in the 4x50 medley relay; against a large and competitive group of schools, this was an outstanding achievement. Well done to Zoe Ryan, Kyarra Steele, Imogen Knight and Lucy Kelly.
At the Bath Cup, the boys placed 8th in the Aldenham Cup (4x100 freestyle). We had to make some last minute substitutions due to illness and injury so the boys performed extremely well to achieve this result. Congratulations to all the boys including Sam Carter and Zach Austin who stepped in to support Ewan Armstrong and Conor Ballard. Our girls smashed their races to win both the Fred Parks Cup (4x50 freestyle) and the R. L. Stead Cup (4x50 medley). They were only tenths of a second from setting a new the record (which, incidentally, is also ours!). The St John’s team included Zoe Ryan, Francesca Beech, Aurelia Loth, Lucy Kelly, Anna Stansfield and Amy Robins.
