Presented by the Principal Brenda Holt, the St Hilda’s Student Club Charity Convenors and the Community Engagement team
Our supporters:
We are reminded of our good fortune and the sacrifice our parents and families have made to support our education, and are grateful to the college and wider community for donating items to auction and raffle for such a worthy cause.
Thank you for your support!
We raise funds tonight to support ‘The School Project,’ a National Homeless Collective initiative, who purchase and distribute brand new school equipment, uniforms and essentials to kids who need it most.Communitas Director, Tori Oberin Student Club Charity Convenors Tori Oberin Isabelle Auld Alex Tarr Kai Daly Harriet Vuillermin
We are thrilled to be able to celebrate some of our community’s regional producers at this year’s Paddock to Plate. After launching our first Paddock to Plate in 2019, we have not been able to host it again until now. Traditionally a parent community event, we are able to honour the work and lives of so many in our rural and regional communities.
First founded in 1964, St Hilda’s College was built to support rural and regional students attending the University of Melbourne. The majority of our current students hail from rural and regional Australia, our traditional heartland.
St Hilda’s motto, ‘Communitas’, encapsulates what Hilda’s has drawn from rural communities: a strong sense of belonging, connectedness and responsibility to others. Students learn what living in a community is all about while here, and take a greater sense of care and concern for others and our world into further communities.
We are very proud of our long tradition of community, belonging and giving. We hope that tonight, as we focus on raising funds for a charity our students have selected together, that you feel more connected to this community and also feel inspired to continue to give generously in your own communities now and into the future.

Parents, brunch in the Dining Hall on Sunday 2 October is between 9.30am & 1.30pm.
At Paddock to Plate, we feature wine and produce from some of our St Hilda’s families and friends, including:
Camilla’s Crush Red Hill Cider, Mornington Peninsula
Founded by Camilla Humphries (2007), Camilla has just returned from a 3 month Churchill Fellowship travelling the world to learn more about cider production.
Founded by Tim Marwood, daughter Lilli is an alumnae of Hilda’s (2018). Look out for the icecream and sorbet on the dessert buffet.
The Blyth family are Australia’s largest daffodil producers, growing over 100 different varieties of daffodils on 350 hectares of rolling picturesque West Gippsland countryside in Ellinbank, Victoria.
Farmer Sallie Jones is a family friend of the Blyth’s (Paige, 2020). Sallie provides our butter, cream and milk for Paddock to Plate. Each year Gippsland Jersey officially launch a farmer calendar serving as a starting point towards breaking down the stigma attached to mental health in our rural communities. Read about the important work Sallie is doing to support our farmers https://gippslandjersey.com.au/pages/mental-health
Chloe Royal’s (2021) family founded and run the vineyard in Whitfield. The Prosecco, Sangiovese and Pinot Grigio are on the table tonight. Enjoy!
Ben Grieving’s (2021) family founded and run the vineyard in Tooleen. We have a selection of Andreas and Henni’s wines for tasting.
Pema Dean’s (2021) family founded and run the vineyard in Lovedale and we have their Shiraz available for tasting at Paddock to Plate.
We have also sourced food and flowers from our Melbourne metro area including local Preston Market stallholders Mariluci Fine Foods, Publique Bakery and Green & Gold Flowers.
All of these businesses have humble family beginnings, an ethos of coming together with the local community through collaboration, and a shared love of food and place.
Our dinner service wine comes from Pizzini Wines in the King Valley with thanks to Chloe Royal’s grandparents, who built the vineyard, and Aunt Nat who has made it all happen for Paddock to Plate!
