Adult Nursing Live Clinical Simulation Event – 17th May

You may be interested in attending this event if considering nursing.

Lisa Blazhevski is a Lecturer in Integrated Care in the School of Health Sciences at University of Surrey and, on 17th May, with the help of undergraduate adult nursing students, will introduce live interactive adult nursing decision making in the Surrey Clinical Simulation Centre.

In a live simulated scenario we will be caring for a patient who is feeling short of breath and participants will have the opportunity to make decisions about their care for the student nurses to complete. We will then look at how a patient responds to the suggested care treatments and will explore why it is important to consider how human biology links in with nursing decision-making.

This is ideal for students with a potential interest in a caring profession which combines biology and interpersonal skills.

“An apprenticeship at GSK provides the opportunity to gain skills, knowledge and technical experience whilst studying towards a qualification in a supportive environment.”

What’s it like being a Packaging Apprentice at GSK?

Being a Packaging Apprentice at GSK is exciting as it is a brand new degree level apprenticeship. As part of being an apprentice, you complete rotations in different departments which allows you to develop technical skills and understanding in various areas of packaging. Alongside working on site, you attend scheduled three day teaching blocks at Sheffield Hallam University.

What is the university course like?

It is a one of a kind course in the UK! Covering packaging design, technology and sustainability, the degree course compliments a packaging apprenticeship perfectly as you learn and gain skills in the workplace. The lecturers are from different backgrounds in the packaging industry which provides many different perspectives on packaging

`

What other opportunities are there at GSK for apprentices?

Many development opportunities are on offer to apprentices at GSK. We have development weeks in the Lake District and Wales, mentoring schemes, and opportunities to attend careers fairs at local schools to promote careers in STEM. GSK also has an apprentice network called NxtGen which you can get involved with to connect with other apprentices.

We have 2 very unique work experience courses coming up soon, an online course that can be enjoyed at home and an in person course in London.

Our online course takes place on Saturday 13th May 2023 and is a day of Surgery work experience. Students can find out more and register by visiting https://www.premedprojects.co.uk/course/surgerywork-experience-day

The in person course is something very special indeed. It takes place at Kings in London on Sunday 21st May 2023 where students aged 14-18 are allowed to enter the dissection room.
