Daniel McCann - Territory Manager @ Aquatrols I grew up in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains in Kingsport Tennessee. As the youngest of six, I spent most of my childhood playing baseball, basketball, and any other sport that was in season. Golf was introduced to me by my dad for the first time when I was 9, but I really didn’t play regularly until high school. After high school, I went to the University of Tennessee (the Real UT!) where I graduated with a degree in Plant Sciences with a concentration in Turfgrass Management. During my time at UT, I did internships at Pinehurst Resort and Country Club and The Ocean Course at Kiawah Island. After working at these two places, I knew my career would be focused around the game of golf! Following graduation, I accepted an Assistant Superintendent position at Bonita Bay Club in Naples, FL where I worked for 18 months. I then moved across town to work for Matt Taylor at Royal Poinciana Golf Club. Matt taught me so much about attention to detail as well as professionalism in this industry that I try to carry with me to this day. I can’t thank Matt enough for his mentorship during those years. While in Naples for 4 years, I met the love of my life Kristie. Kristie and I were married in 2003 and were presented an opportunity to move to San Antonio shortly thereafter. We decided to take a chance and move westward although neither of us were from Texas. It was the 2nd best decision of my life (behind asking Kristie to marry me of course!). I took the Assistant Superintendent position at Oak Hills Country Club in March 2004. Working at Oak Hills offered great learning experiences including hosting two PGA Tour Champions events. After two years at Oak Hills, I was fortunate to land the Head Superintendent job at San Antonio Country Club. I worked at SACC for nearly thirteen years and thoroughly enjoyed my time there. In 2018, it was time for a new chapter in my life. I was approached by Redox Chemical to come work as a Manufacturer Rep and support our distribution partners through education to grow their business in the turfgrass market. I covered the southern states from Arkansas to Hawaii for nearly two years. In January 2020, I was informed that Redox had entered into a Strategic Distribution Agreement with Aquatrols. After this announcement, I was asked to come work for Aquatrols and help them usher in the Redox portfolio and help educate the current teams in the US and Europe. Within a few months of coming to Aquatrols, I was asked to manage a territory that includes Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Colorado, Kansas and Missouri. It has been a wild ride to say the least, but I’ve enjoyed every minute of it!
I’m so grateful for the friends I’ve made along the way and the ones I’ve yet to meet! This would not be possible without the love and support of my amazing wife Kristie and our awesome kids Maggie (age 13) and Jack (age 9).
