About Base Metal Roofing

Based in Glasgow, Base Metal Roofing covers Scotland, North England and beyond, successfully working alongside Architects, main contractors, local builders and private clients for over 30 years. The quality of our work is not only down to our service and craftsmanship but also the traditional materials we use.

We specialise in the traditional or contemporary installations of fully supported hard metal roofing and cladding systems using Zinc, Copper, Greencoat PLX, Aluminium and Lead.

Our Philosophy

Durability & Longevity Versatility

Base metals such as Copper and Zinc have been used successfully in roofing for over 2,000 years. Inherent natural properties of base metals form a patina (oxide layer) that protects itself from erosion to external elements. This natural process and modern material manufacturing and installation techniques now combine to give a long-lasting, low-maintenance result. Tried and tested on the most complex roofs, pushing design boundaries or prevailing in extreme locations.

Metal can be used for both residential and commercial projects. The same materials can be used on both the roof and outside walls of a building. Material choice and finish are extensive and governed by location, cost, aesthetics or architect. They are fitted to roofs with a pitch upwards of 5 degrees, mansards to 90 degrees and soffits to any angle. The metal can be installed on various substrates, including

timber, metal decking and insulation. Systems of installation include Baton Roll, Standing Seam, Single Lock Welt, Cassette, Shingle & more. All flashings and panels are made on-site and can be tailored to suit specific requirements like symmetry or bespoke detailing. Our range of skills allows us to expertly deal with problem-solving on complex installations to ensure a flawless end result.

Supply Chain

We work closely with our suppliers and we are approved installers of VM Zinc, Rheinzink, KME, Aurubis and Greencoat PLX.
