First Year Vice President Report

Happy May plumbers & professionals! I hope everyone is enjoying the warm weather & taking advantage of the preseason at our beautiful shore. Be prepared for customers to take plunges on their outdoor projects like BBQs, pool heaters, and fireplaces as we approach closer to summertime.

As a reminder for licensed professionals; our lobbyist along with the PPAG are working to schedule a meeting with assemblyman Wayne DeAngelo (IBEW to address concerns regarding the water heater bill. They are working with the NJ Department of Labor & Workforce Development to establish an approved SLMP apprenticeship program (although it has been approved by the PHCC to utilize their program for the Apprenticeship program.) They are also working to combat unlicensed contractors taking our work, but this is a team effort. Please do your part & report these instances: create a record and report the grievance to the Division of Consumer Affairs (DCA) as well as to the State League. You can attach photos or other documentation to support claims as well. In addition, item no. 5130 has been introduced to require prompt responses to inspection requests & shorter windows for inspections to occur.

2025 renewals for licenses are coming due. If you haven’t already; be sure to get to a continuing education class. At the end of April, I was able to attend a start up meeting in Robbinsville for a new Charter Association with our Secretary Gary Italiano. Many interesting, prospective members were in attendance & it was a pleasure to meet everyone! I will provide updates as they move forward in getting their association started. As always, feel free to reach out to myself for assistance in HVAC or Plumbing continuing education.

We continue to host FREE educational classes on the 3rd Thursday of each month from 6:00 to 8:30 at the CPR Facility; 75 New Brunswick Ave Perth Amboy New Jersey. We can only offer these Sep-May, so this is our last one; May 15th! Doors are open to all members, as well as your employees and apprentices. As always, gratitude goes out to Anthony LaMorgia and CPR Restoration for the use of their facility along with all of the members of our association and committee assisting throughout this process.

Be sure to continue to check out NJSLMP.com for updates on events and information for local & state associations. You can find meetings, connect with other members, and more. Let us know if we missed anything & we will be sure to add it!

Another reminder to utilize our great sponsors! I do, probably, 90% of purchasing through our sponsors (whom I have dealt with for many years) & in my experience, have found them to provide great support and accurate information. Be sure to take advantage of their resources & assistance!

Respectfully, Steven Bouer, 1st Year VP (732) 904-5065 • steve@jerseyphc.com

Second Year Vice President Report

I want to thank Mr Joe Lagdone his son and there secretary Jerry from Somerset Valley association for inviting me to there last meeting. A great turnout with 4 vendors. Thanks again for a great evening. Thank you to Joe Russo and Rahway association for holding this months state league meeting at Costas. Seems like we’re getting closer to solving our issues with Trenton thanks to Sam Weinstein for the update. Convention is around the corner, have you booked your room yet?. Website chairman and good friend Steve Bouer has everything online for you. Click on ,get a room, and let’s throw the wrenches in the truck and have some fun. Pool and beach party are planned. No formal dress required! (Except for the head table) Uggh! On another note keep my co-pilot and Greater Newark president Jim Becker in your prayers. He had a small accident and broke some bones in his hand.( Personal I think Rosey his wife beat him with a bat but who knows lol) Enjoy the warm weather and see you at next months meeting with Southern Ocean and the Convention!!!

God Bless, Mark Bleiweis, 2nd Year VP (732) 686-7415 • bleiweisplumbing@gmail.com

Third Year Vice President Report

Hello Brother Plumbers,

On April 29th I attended the NSPC code committee meeting to discuss the changes to the new 2027 code. Anyone who would like to request a code change can submit one. The NSPC code is one of the only codes that anyone can submit a change and not have to be an engineer or code official. Remember Convention is coming up, June 27th-28th. All members are encouraged to come down and participate. The trade show, at the convention, grows every year and is always a good opportunity to meet new manufacturers and new suppliers. I hope to see you there.

Please note: anyone that does HVAC, be aware that the new refrigerants ( R-32 and R-454) require a special left hand adapter. Be sure to order one when you get your refrigerant.

Thank you,

Vincent Tinervia, 3rd year VP (732) 904-0111 • E-mail: plumbervin@aol.com

Fourth Year Vice President Report

Hello Fellow Master Plumbers,

I encourage you to attend the upcoming annual Convention and Trade Show, as it promises to be valuable for information and networking.

At a previous trade show, I connected with Chris Quackenbush from New York Life and subsequently obtained life insurance for myself and my staff, as well as long-term disability coverage for my employees. For $250, I secured a $50,000 life insurance policy (with optional additional coverage) and long-term disability insurance (providing 60% of their paycheck for up to five years beyond the state’s six-month coverage) for my eight employees. This connection at the trade show proved beneficial.

I hope to see you at the NJLMP Convention in Atlantic City!

May 21st Pascack President Michael Medaglia and myself had a second meeting with State Assemblyman Robert Auth to discuss the deficiencies of the licensing board and as the Board is under the Attorney Geneneral we are working with the Assemblyman’s office to draft a letter to discuss our concerns and open a constructive dialogue. Assemblyman Auth is lining up a Democrat Assemblyman to join him in this letter He is focusing on a South Jersey Assemblyman. More to come on this. The Assemblyman wants any complaints from his district to have us copy him and his office will not only send it in from his office, a dedicated office Legislative Assistant will stay on top of the complaints to see they are followed through. We submitted a complaint September of 2023 and still no action has been taken We ALL protect the Health of The Nation. The public deserves better!

See you at Convention.

Respectfully,

Hopper, 4th year VP LMP 9343

“WE without YOU is just ME”

WE without YOU is just ME!

As we look ahead to our Annual Convention and Trade Show in just a few weeks, I want to take a moment to thank each of you for your dedication to our craft and the League. It is with great excitement that we begin a new chapter under the leadership of our incoming President Steve Bouer. I have no doubt that his experience and vision will help guide us to new heights.

Over the past year, I’ve often heard the phrase, “We need to do more.” I couldn’t agree more. Out of 5,000 Licensed Master Plumbers in our state, only 800 are members of this League. That number tells us that there’s incredible potential waiting to be tapped.

We need to do more in expanding education programs, connecting with trade schools, and reaching out to the next generation of skilled plumbers. The current board and I are honored to serve, but we can’t carry the mission forward without you.

Let me say it plainly: We without YOU is just ME.

Imagine the impact if each one of us brought in just one new member this year. We would double our membership overnight. Even better, the first year of membership is absolutely free. That’s a powerful invitation to offer someone in your network – a chance to grow, to contribute, and to be part of something bigger.

I look forward to seeing you at the Convention in Atlantic City and hearing your thoughts on how we can improve together.

Let’s make this the year we do more - together.

With Respect & Gratitude,

State League of Master Plumbers

Continuing Education Report

Good evening,

We have completed all scheduled classes as far as I know. Steve Bauer will be doing a class this Saturday for anyone I the league that needs it, in Freehold. Steve Rodzniak will be doing a virtual class in the coming month on line for any members in good standing of the State League that need it.

I will be sending a letter this weekend to our secretary to forward to all league secretaries for anyone in any association, that needs a class. I might do one up North, either online or in person if I get enough interest.

I am finalizing all payment vouchers also over weekend, with updated rosters to get payments to all associations. I want to thank Don and Gary for their help in confirming all members to date that have been sent in. I would also like thank the instructors of the state league for their assistance in teaching all our members. I would especially like to thank Doug Loranger for all his help. I will have a final financial report at convention. Any questions feel free to email me at rbarbarulo@verizon.net or call my cell at 201=747-5860.

Respectfully submitted,

Plumbing Inspectors Report

We held our monthly meeting at Yesterday’s Restaurant in Hazlet on April 16. For our education seminar, we had Jesse Kealy, HVACR instructor for IAPMO. Jesse came in from Kansas to do seminar on the new refrigerants. It was very informing and cleared up many questions. He also did a class with plumbing and HVAC students at PCTI, the night before. Thank you Jesse so much. Next month, I will be doing our 1 hour seminar for the plumbing license renewal. Our Golf Outing is October 9, with a full flyer to be in Pipeline next month. I am hoping to get every association to sponsor a hole and get golfers. We had 106 last year and I want to max out at 144.

The new codes, including the NSPC are supposed to be adopted in September of 2025. I was told by Anthony that we are probably looking at late December, early January for adoption. We just met in Philly, the NSPC committee to review all the changes submitted for the 2027 code. The code change hearings are August 14 and 15 at Ceasers in Atlantic City. I encourage everyone to attend, as you will get CE credit towards your license. I will have a sign in sheet at the venue.
