HEAR FROM OUR COMMUNITY

Our students, faculty and alumni say it best. Here’s what they love about the School of Music experience.
ELIZABETH LANGSTON
“When I got my scholarship from Stetson, it was clear where I was meant to be. Some of the most memorable experiences at Stetson have been every single opportunity I had to go abroad. As a sophomore, I had the opportunity to perform in Italy with Stetson’s orchestra and the National Trumpet Competition, which I’ve been to twice. When I look back at Stetson, these are the things I remember: Being on a hike with my trumpet, the studio in the mountains, snowing, playing for a bunch of other musicians and playing with amazing musicians.”

NICHOLAS DIEUX
“As soon as I stepped on campus, it felt like home. I can go into any professor’s office and have a regular conversation with them. They know you as a person. It’s not like this at other schools of music or larger universities. That’s what really drove me here. Also, the intensity of the curriculum and our dedication to high-caliber scholarship, performances and immersion in music—this is rare for schools of music.”
NEIL HUHTA
“The quality of the education gave me a competitive advantage. If you’re struggling in an area, [Stetson] will help you, and they will create an environment where you will be able to excel academically. You have the unique advantage of being able to connect with your professors. Those were some of the best years of my life, going to Stetson.”

KATARINA NIEMINEN
“I really fell in love with the atmosphere of [Stetson]. I knew that I’d be able to get a personalized education here. My advisor, my studio teacher, was really supportive of my decision to do a double major. I love having the flexibility of my creative side with playing violin, and then my more intellectual side focusing on music theory.”
