Educational Experiences for Youth Youth Matinee Series Parents and educators know that helping a student develop creativity and imagination is one of the most important things they can do. Helping to complete the education formula, our Youth Matinee Series energizes, engages and enhances the overall learning process for students through the magic and wonder of live performing arts produced by professional touring artists. These performances enrich students’ lives and illustrate the dynamic relationship between literature, social studies, history, science, math, world cultures and the performing arts. The Youth Matinee Series is underwritten by the Martha-Ellen Tye Performing Arts Institute endowment.

Martha-Ellen Tye Performing Arts Institute The Martha-Ellen Tye Performing Arts Institute was established through a generous endowment by long-time Marshalltown resident, the late Martha-Ellen Tye. It brings a unique blend of arts experiences to students of all ages through matinee performances, teaching activities in schools, demonstrations and workshops. Now in its 16th year, the program has served more than 200,000 students in grades PreK-12 from across the state of Iowa. Mrs. Tye believed strongly in the power and importance of arts education and vigorously supported programs that develop the “whole person — body, mind and spirit.” The Youth Matinee Series is underwritten by this endowment, which allows us to keep the price at $4.

THE CIRQUE DREAMS HOLIDAZE JOURNEY

CIRQUE DREAMS ENTERTAINMENT BRAND

In 2005, at a Broadway industry conference in NYC, Neil Goldberg proposed to many theatre colleagues the concept of producing an affordable, family friendly holiday stage show that would be able to tour and perform in virtually every city throughout the United States. The idea was initially met with reluctance as audiences were deemed to be in the celebratory holiday spirit the months of November and December only, making both the investment and scale of any potential production a challenging business venture. At that time, there were limited holiday theatrical entertainment options, mostly local productions of classics and an occasional big city touring show. Neil Goldberg was determined to bring theatres across the country a holiday show inspired by his lifelong ornament collection, talent from around the world and the resources of the rapidly growing and popular Cirque Dreams entertainment brand…a holiday stage spectacle that would become the greatest variety show on the planet.

In 1993, Cirque Productions was incorporated by founder Neil Goldberg, who previously owned and operated one of the country’s leading entertainment and event production companies producing shows throughout the world for Microsoft, GM, GE, Prudential, McKesson, Exxon, Coca-Cola, Pepsi and other Fortune 500 companies. Highlight productions included AmEx’s centennial celebration, Super Bowl events, Miss Universe, Disney shows and productions for NBC, ABC and CBS. After researching, developing and producing an entertainment variety show for an international premier event entitled Cirque Du Monde (Circuses of the World), Cirque Productions, Inc. was formed with the intent to produce cirque shows and productions for corporate America. Attending a private corporate performance, the V.P. of Marketing for Bally’s Hotel & Casino retained Cirque Productions to develop and present its first public show in Atlantic City entitled Cirque Ingenieux.

With perseverance and the 2008 success of Cirque Dreams Jungle Fantasy on Broadway, the concept of Cirque Dreams Holidaze had growing interest and promise. Cirque Productions initially invested $1.5Million to produce the first touring production of Cirque Dreams Holidaze in 2009. The show exceeded all expectations and continued evolving over the years with production enhancements including new sets, elaborate costume additions, original and licensed music, larger scale production numbers, bigger casts and a medley of diversified talent from around the world. Every element of the show celebrated the holiday season combining tradition, spectacle, and imagination with song, variety, and amazement. As audiences continued to flock to Cirque Dreams Holidaze shows in cities throughout the country from local performing arts centers to The Kennedy Center, popularity and demand grew, evolving into multiple simultaneous touring productions. Today, the show is in its eighth season and features some of the best, most unique and diversified artists anywhere, along with astounding acts of all kinds, many of which have been featured on America’s Got Talent and similar TV variety shows in other countries. The show, artists, scenes, costumes, music and everything celebrated in the holiday season continues evolving while Cirque Dreams Holidaze airs as a made for PBS television special throughout the country. With unparalleled critical acclaim and millions of fans across the country celebrating their holiday season at a Cirque Dreams Holidaze show, the dream of producing the greatest variety show on the planet has become a reality and iconic annual holiday event for families and audiences everywhere.

When Cirque Ingenieux opened at Bally’s in 1995, the show immediately gained recognition and notoriety from appearances on the Today Show and similar media outlets, catapulting the brand nationally. Within a year, a division of PACE Theatricals licensed the U.S. touring rights for Cirque Ingenieux. With growing success and demand for Cirque Productions unique theatrical entertainment creations, the company’s organization evolved with multiple divisions providing product and content for public touring shows, casinos, theme parks, corporate America, distinctive projects and events worldwide. A strategic rebranding campaign then formed the Cirque Dreams conglomerate of branded shows throughout the world. In 2005 Dream Studios was created in a retrofitted 20,000sq.ft. building to support the brand’s demand and ensure the product’s quality, service, management and growth. The facility has since doubled with a scenic, prop and workshop second building. The operation includes departments and staff for creative, technical and music production, casting, sales, administration, travel, visas, product management, marketing and more. An in-house rehearsal studio trains and rehearses over 200 artists yearly from around the world employed in Cirque Dreams shows. A complete wardrobe design and manufacturing facility exists within the complex which has produced over 10,000 award-winning costumes. Dream Studios is a unique entertainment facility supporting full service, multi-faceted show production.

Cirque Dreams Jungle Fantasy received the 2011 Brass Ring award for entertainment excellence at Busch Gardens Tampa and was featured on an episode of MTV’s MADE. In 2012, the show entertained over 100,000 U.S. troops and their families throughout the world. In 2013, the show was redesigned into a modern dinner theatre experience in partnership with Norwegian Cruise Line, to perform on their new Breakaway ship.
