Stéphane Boghossian is an Antwerp-born, Beirut-raised aspiring designer with Armenian and jewelry-making family roots. After completing his French baccalaureate in Lebanon, he branched off the popular science-focused education and career track to study Product Design (major) and Interior Design (minor) at Milan’s at NABA. Stéphane has completed internships at design companies such as Tamawa (Jewellery, Belgium), ACID (Product, Lebanon), Saatchi and Saatchi (Graphic, Lebanon) and Rachid Karam Architects (Architecture, Lebanon). He has a passion for luxury product design, and recently won awards for his work for "Luigi Quaglia" and "Design per l’Imprese". He is also a photography aficionado in his spare time.

The house has been the same for the last hundred years, however current social and economical developments urge us to rethink the character of the domestic environment and its surroundings.

An article that I read started my research. The revolution of internet improved the way we communicate, meet , buy and pay. In around 90% of the world, people live from what they have, what others sell to them, and what others give away. A simple neighboorhood can be a perfect market and could work standalone through exchange services and time without using money.

INTERNET AS A DISCOVERY The Internet is a global system of interconnected computer networks that use the standard Internet protocol suite (TCP/ IP) to link several billion devices worldwide. It is a network of networks that consists of millions of private, public, academic, business, and government networks, of local to global scope, that are linked by a broad array of electronic, wireless, and optical networking technologies. The Internet carries an extensive range of information resources and services, such as the inter-linked hypertext documents and applications of the World Wide Web (WWW), the infrastructure to support email, and peer-to-peer networks for file sharing and telephony. Internet is found in every corner of every street in every cities. User uses internet everywhere: in their home, in their office and on the street on their mobile phones. They are constantly connected to the worldwide web.

SMARTPHONES AS TOOLS A smartphone, or smart phone, is a mobile phone with more advanced computing capability and connectivity than basic feature phones. Early smartphones typically combined the features of a mobile phone with those of another popular consumer device, such as a personal digital assistant (PDA), a media player, a digital camera, or a GPS navigation unit. Modern smartphones include all of those features plus the features of a touchscreen computer, including web browsing, Wi-Fi, and 3rd-party apps. Currently, about 90% of handset sales worldwide are for devices driven by Googles Android and Apples iOS mobile operating systems. “There Will Soon Be One Smartphone For Every Five People In The World�

SOCIAL NETWORK BECOMES A MUST A social network is a social structure made up of a set of social actors (such as individuals or organizations) and a set of the dyadicties between these actors. Over the past two decades, one of the most dynamic developments related to digital media has been the rise of social network sites, such as Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and Instagram. Since the launch of the first social applications in the late 1990s, they attracted over a billion active users worldwide, many of whom have incorporated digital social interactions into their everyday lives.

Today, social technologies dominate the zeitgeist, spawning new communities, where there were once just distributed individuals, and amplifying the size and significance of various publics. This has set the stage for unprecedented collective mobilisations, protest movements and open-source projects that have left their marks in the brief history of the Internet. Given the current buzz around social media, 2014 is expected to be a critical period for the genre of social network sites, when both users and businesses will have to cope with the challenges posed by the changing nature of social interactions, design choices and privacy norms, as the Internet continues to rewire more and more aspects of our social lives.

MEET PEOPLE ONLINE Dating people that you meet online is the new trend of today. A lot of interesting new concepts are coming out in applications for smartphones. One of the most famous at the moment is: Tinder. “Tinder is how people meet. It’s like real life, but better.” Tinder is a mobile app providing location-based service dedicated to social discovery, in order to facilitate telecommunication between mutually interested users. Other applications are available for homosexual, bisexual and milfs like: Grindr, Badoo, Skout, Moonit and much more. (More than 200 apps on the Apple Store)

INSPIRATIONAL PROJECT: THE REPRESENTATION OF OUR SOCIAL WORLD Idea/problem/context: While tending not to let things slide in professional environments because of the immediate repercussions, we often neglect our personal lives, where the effect of our actions are less apparent. Good at building systems that assist us in structured environments like the workplace, we find it difficult to design for the ambiguous, less tangible nature of our social lives.

How it works: Your phone›s screen shows a crowd of human figures, each an avatar of one of your friends, acquaintances or relatives. The frequency of all digital communications between you and each person, which the system monitors, determines that avatar›s posture: an alert stance indicates frequent recent contact, for example; a lethargic posture or turned back means neglect. You can also register non-digital contacts manually. The avatars can be grouped manually according to sentiment, category, and so on, or programmed to begin clustering together before an upcoming event: your family before a birthday, say.

What it is: The Social Fabric is a representation of your social world, displayed as a single visual array on your mobile phone. It does not replace your address book or calendar but keeps you subtly informed about which relationships are prospering, which you have neglected, and the overall state of your social fabric.

Value/potential: More generally, this project shows how, as well as hard information (amply served by current applications), personal management tools can also record and represent the ‹softer›, more ambiguous, but still central aspects of our lives - and with no less elegance and power.

PAYPAL = A NEW WAY TO PAY PayPal is the faster, safer way to send money, make an online payment, receive money or set up a merchant account. PayPal is a global e-commerce business allowing payments and money transfers to be made through the Internet. Online money transfers serve as electronic alternatives to paying with traditional paper methods, such as checks and money orders. It is subject to the US economic sanction list, and subject to other rules and interventions required by US laws or government.

PayPal is an acquirer, performing payment processing for online vendors, auction sites, and other commercial users, for which it charges a fee. It may also charge a fee for receiving money, proportional to the amount received. The fees depend on the currency used, the payment option used, the country of the sender, the country of the recipient, the amount sent and the recipient›s account type.[4] In addition, eBay purchases made by credit card through PayPal may incur extra fees if the buyer and seller use different currencies. On October 3, 2002, PayPal became a wholly owned subsidiary of eBay. Its corporate headquarters are in San Jose, California, United States at eBay›s North First Street satellite office campus. The company also has significant operations in Omaha, ScoGsdale, CharloGe and Austin in the United States; Chennai in India; Dublin in Ireland; Kleinmachnow in Germany; and Tel Aviv in Israel. From July 2007, PayPal has operated across the European Union as a Luxembourg-based bank.

BITCOIN: THE NEW CURRENCY IN VOGUE! Bitcoin is a new currency that was created in 2009 by an unknown person using the alias Satoshi Nakamoto. Transactions are made with no middlemen – meaning, no banks! There are no transaction fees and no need to give your real name. More merchants are beginning to accept them: You can buy webhosting services, pizza or even manicures. Bitcoin can be used to buy merchandise anonymously. In addition, international payments are easy and cheap because Bitcoin are not tied to any country or subject to regulation. Small businesses may like them because there are no credit card fees. Some people just buy Bitcoin as an investment, hoping that they’ll go up in value. Transfers People can send Bitcoin to each other using mobile apps or their computers. It’s similar to sending cash digitally.

START-UP STORY 1 CHICKEN = 2 COKES (in Vietnam) After 40km of biking in Thai Binh, we stopped at a local house to rest and eat. We all got cokes and sprites as a reward but 2 cokes were missing. So the host took a chicken with him and paid a visit to the neighbors. He came back a few minutes later with the two extra bottles of coke. I was wondering what was going on, so I asked him what happened and he answered: I gave him a chicken, he gave me cokes, this is how it works :)

Desperate Housewives (2004–2012) Secrets and truths unfold through the lives of female friends in one suburban neighborhood, after the mysterious suicide of a neighbor. The first scene of the Season 1 Episode 1 starts with a very good example of a neighbor’ s favor. Whenever someone needs something urgently, they only have to knock on your door to ask for it. Borrowing tools and doing favors for each other is the right way to live.

It was founded by Pierre Omidyar in 1995, and it became a notable success story of the dot-com bubble; it is now a multi-billion dollar business with operations localized in over thirty countries. The company manages eBay.com, an online auction and shopping website in which people and businesses buy and sell a broad variety of goods and services worldwide. In addition to its auction-style sellings, the website has since expanded to include “Buy It Now� standard shopping; shopping by UPC, ISBN, or other kind of SKU (via Half.com); online classified advertisements (via Kijiji or eBay Classifieds); online event ticket trading (via StubHub); online money transfers (via PayPal) and other services.

TIME BANKING = I GIVE 1H OF MY TIME, YOU GIVE TOO.

Time banking is a tool by which a group of people can create an alternative economic model where they exchange their time and skills, rather than acquire goods and services through the use of money or any other state-backed value. Everyone’s time is equal no matter what each hour is spent doing! 1 hour of help = 1 time hour.

PROS Time Banks have been used to reduce recidivism rates with diversionary programs for first-time juvenile offenders; facilitate re-entry of for ex-convicts; deliver health care, job training and social services in public housing complexes; facilitate substance abuse recovery; prevent institutionalization of severely disabled children through parental support networks; provide transportation for homebound seniors in rural areas; deliver elder care, community health services and hospice care; and foster women's rights initiatives in Senegal.

CONS (non-theoretical problems) The first is the difficulty of communicating to potential members exactly what makes time banking different, or "getting people to understand the difference between Time Banking and traditional volunteering.

According to the service value, the points can decrease or increase. Every user starts with a fixed number of 25 points. Points are gained when you do a service for somebody else. Points are lost when you ask for services (you give it away to the person who did the service for you). The asker can ask a favor for a fixed number of points or a number of points that can be decided by the doer. In this second case, the asker can decide which doer to pick depending on how many points they are asking for.
