Elmwood - Brand the Boring Occupation: Air Freshner Create something quirky, contemporary and most of all, different. The air freshener market is saturated with scents of food and fruits, which is why I’ve chosen to create an Air freshener brand that was clean, comforting, educational and attractive. Traits that you would not recognise through other Air freshener brands such as; Ambi Pure, Glade, Febreeze & Air Wick. I didn’t just want to create a brand that made a joke at every corner of its material to suffice it not being boring, I wanted a brand that I could see effectively working in the real world environment. My concentration was on the movement of air particles, the dispersion of smell & Air Odour.

I generated an idea where the user could swipe their mouse over the centered blue bar and watch as the white air particles (Odaire) spread through the air, this is both an educational and entertaining aspect of the website.

Website Proposal / In a technological age, I felt the website needed to have some form of interaction. Running with the theme of air particles and dispersion.

Particle dispersion, the reasoning for incorporating this, is that it uplifts the nature of the brand and gives the Air freshner a whole new depth to its selling... educating its customers

Letterhead, Business card (Front), Business card (Back) Colour scheme / Nearly every single major player in the Air freshener segment, uses bright/ pastel colours to reflect the containted scent, however, the smell I was using, was different, allowing me to create a colour palette that reflected; clenliness, purity & tranquility

‘From a colour psychology perspective, blue is reliable and responsible. You can rely on it to take control.’ Therefore the colour scheme of my brand has been carefully selected to reflect the process & occupation of its self.

Type / Sans Serif - Basetica. I chose to use a Sans Serif typeface because it’s alot more dynamic, contemporary and reflective of Air fresheners, than a Serif font which permeates a sense of tradition and past. Logo / Due to my whole concept based around the idea of air particles and dispersion, I created a symbol that demonstrated the splitting of ‘Odaire’s’ particles. Odaire - Ultimately, air fresheners are a pleasant Air Odour, used to mask/ absorb unwanted odours. I took this idea and turned it on its head, creating Odaire, a french air freshener. Derived from the terms Odour and Air. Creating such a brand also gave me scope to incorporate quirky and funny taglines, such as: ODAIRE BE AWARE, ODAIRE BE GONE.
