Château LA FAGNOUSE 2011 ST EMILION GRAND CRU OVERVIEW Château La Fagnouse is located 50 kilometres East of Bordeaux, on the right bank of the Dordogne River, only 15 kilometres of Libourne, standing at the gate of the village of Saint-Emilion. The vineyard was established during the nineteenth century by the Vacher de Corbiac Lord Family and is settled on the Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Appellation. This particular appellation doesn't correspond with a defined area but with a tasting selection of wines which have to satisfy most rigorous qualitative criterias. It is among the SaintEmilion Grand Cru wines that are selected growths for the Saint-Emilion classification of 1955. It makes the originality of the Saint-Emilion region. The current owners, the Coutant family, took over the property with passion in 1920. VINEYARD Soil: Chalky-clay and chalky-silty-clay. Surface: 11 hectares Location: The vineyard is located on the commune of Saint-Etienne-deLisse. Average age of the vineyard: 40 years Grape varieties: 70% Merlot / 30% Cabernet Franc VINIFICATION Classical vinification in thermo-regulated stainless steel vats. Ageing for 12 months in barrels. WINE TASTING Nice deep colour. The bouquet is powerful with ripe berries aromas and in background, pleasant and fresh woody notes. The palate is fleshy, warm and round with elegant and persistent tannins. MATCHING FOOD AND WINE Serve at 17-18°C with Bordeaux style veal kidneys, leg of lamb or with braised squab. This wine will be ideal with terrines or good selection of cheeses. AGEING POTENTIAL From 5 to 10 years
