Château BEL AIR GLORIA 2014 HAUT MEDOC - CRU BOURGEOIS OVERVIEW First references to Château Bel Air are found in the 15th century. The ancient origins of this property date back to the first hours of Médoc wines history. After several years of disputes, this "cru" was divided. In 1980, Henri Martin became the owner of the estate. The vineyard, facing the Gironde River, is located on a rich soil, which routinely gives generous character, intensity of fruit, and good colour to the wine. VINEYARD Soil: gravel rises over a mainly blue-clay subsoil. Surface: 34 hectares Location: The vineyard is located in Cussac-Fort-Médoc, near Saint-Julien de Beychevelle. Average age of the vineyard: 30 years Grape varieties: 75% Cabernet Sauvignon / 23% Merlot / 2% Cabernet Franc VINIFICATION Manual harvest. Traditionnal vinification in thermo-regulated stainless steel vats during 3 weeks. Ageing for 12 months in barrels, with 25% new barrels. WINE TASTING The geographical location of this vineyard allows to produce well-balanced and robust wines. The grapes are always well-ripened and their freshness preserved. Full, rich fruit on the palate initially and on the finish. MATCHING FOOD AND WINE Serve at 17-18°C with skewered lamb, stuffed poultry or with grilled on vine shoots beef tenderloin, along with pan-brown vegetables.
