Château DU LEVANT SAUTERNES - Second Wine of Château Liot OVERVIEW Château Du Levant is the second wine of Château Liot and receive the same particular cares than the first wine. The vineyard of Château Liot is situated on the plateau of the high part of Barsac and takes advantage of the microclimate of Sauternes, which is particularly suitable for producing sweet wines. The property belongs to the David family since several generations. Today it is Jerry David who runs the production of the 45-hectare vineyard. 25 hectares are dedicated to the Sauternes wine while 20 hectares produce wines of Graves (Red and White). Specific attention is given to harvests. Thanks to a rigorous selection of berries affected by botrytis (noble rot) as well as a traditional wine making process, wines of Château Liot can express all their personality and fineness. VINTAGE 2011 VINEYARD Soil: Red clay soil on a limestone base Surface: 21 hectares Average age of the vineyard: 40 years Grape varieties: 10% Sauvignon / 85% Sémillon / 5% Muscadelle VINIFICATION Manual harvesting. Classical vinification in stainless steel vats after strict selection of noble grains. 30-day fermentation. Ageing for 18 months in vats. WINE TASTING Gold yellow dress, sparkling and clean tint. The nose is rich with yellow riped fruits et dried fruits (almond, apricot) note, supported by a touch of acacia honey. The palate is well-balanced with exotic fruits aromas (pineapple, mango). Lively and fruity wine. MATCHING FOOD AND WINE Serve at 8-10°C as an apéritif, with Foie Gras toast, terrine of scampi and tarragon or with poultry and roasted apples and almonds. This wine will be perfect with cheeses such as Blue or Rocquefort, as well as desserts such as almond Sponge Cake, fruit salad or dark chocolate cake. AGEING POTENTIAL From 10 to 15 years
