SECS Uniform Look Book 2024-2025

Letter from the Principal & Advisory Board

Thank you all for your patience and understanding as we finish our transitional uniform year! After listening to your feedback, our school administration has worked with our Advisory Board and with Flynn O’Hara to establish a cohesive, polished, and professional uniform for 2024-2025.

As you browse through this Look Book, there are several items of note that you should pay attention to for the next school year:

Ties. Families indicated they wanted our boys to also showcase the new plaid, so both plaid and black ties for elementary and junior high boys will be accepted for the 2024-2025 school year. Further, feedback from parents and students indicated that the criss-cross ties were preferred for the girls’ uniforms, with students wanting to display their merit pins on them and parents believing it showed a more professional look on Mass days. Both plaid and black criss-cross ties will be accepted for girls for 2024-2025.

Jumpers. Families did not like the SECS branding patch on the jumper. Therefore, we will have plain jumpers and elementary girls will have a crown logo on their blouse collar instead. Jumpers with the patch will still be permitted next year if in good condition.

Shoes. Tennis shoes and socks/tights are all to be either solid white or solid black. Also, the color of the socks/tights worn must match the color of the shoes worn (white with white, black with black).

Sweaters. Junior high boys and girls and elementary boys will have the option of either sweater vests or long-sleeve sweaters for Mass days. Elementary girls will have a cardigan sweater option.

The main pieces of our Uniform are to be purchased through Flynn O’Hara. (Note that all logolabeled items from Flynn O’Hara do come embroidered but are not shown embroidered on the website preview.) Items such as crew socks, shoes, cartwheel shorts, and belts may be purchased at a general retailer as long as they follow the listed standards. Fleece jackets are available monthly through our online Spirit Store at Fully Promoted.

General Uniform Reminders

All students attending St. Edward Catholic School wear uniforms to promote community, to increase safety, and to lessen distractions. Students are expected to observe good grooming habits and uniforms are to be complete, clean and neat in appearance, and of the proper size. All uniform items should be washed frequently and free of permanent stains.

Periodic uniform inspections will take place and dress code violation forms will be sent home with students out of uniform. Parents may be required to bring appropriate clothes or to pick up the student from school if they are dressed inappropriately. Student names are to be written clearly in all uniform items and outer garments worn to school. Mabel’s Labels may be purchased to help identify student garments.

SECS has two uniform categories: Mass and Everyday Optional. Mass uniforms may be worn on any school day but they must be worn each Friday for School Mass and on any other special days announced by the school. Everyday Optional uniforms may be worn on any school day that is not a Mass day or announced special day. Uniform components are purchased from Flynn O’Hara, Fully Promoted (Spirit wear and Fleece Jackets), and from our SECS Used Uniform Sale.

For All Grades:

Crew socks, tights, and tennis shoes are all to be either solid white or solid black and MUST match (white worn with white, black worn with black). All socks must cover the ankle.
