SECS Gratitude Report 2023-2024

It has been another wonderful year at St. Edward Catholic School and we are once again excited to share our gratitude and appreciation for all of the support we received from the community and our families during the 2023-2024 school year!

This annual Gratitude Report is designed to recognize our supporters and inform our community about what funds were raised through our various organizations and how they were used. Additionally, we are pleased to share our final financial report from the 2023-2024 school year. This report is traditionally shared in the fall as our fiscal year closes on June 30.

We are happy to report that the third year of our Monarch Fund raised $45,438! This annual campaign is designed to support programs, activities, and initiatives that are not covered by tuition. Gifts to this annual fund allow us to "bridge the gap" between what tuition covers and the actual cost of educating students in an innovative learning environment. Because of your generosity, we were able to replace the broken playground tunnel, repair roof damage sustained during Hurricane Beryl, and make growth hiring decisions to invest in the future of our school.

Our PTO and Booster Club continue to be active and to enhance our campus community through their fundraising and social events. This year, for example, they were able to help with the campus beautification projects and purchase adjustable basketball hoops for the gym. We are so thankful for the important work they do for our students, staff, and families!

If you have any questions for or interest in the events or organizations listed in this report, please use the contact information below and we will be happy to assist you!

SECS: FINANCIAL REPORT 2023-2024

The 2023-2024 school year for the St. Edward Catholic School was a financial success. We maintained enrollment with an average of 217 students. Our income and expenses remained balanced, which allowed the school to maintain investing resources into our school.

SECS: FINANCIAL REPORT 2023-2024

Our PTO and Booster Club were very active in the 2023-2024 school year and put all resources to use to support the students as well as faculty and staff. Both organizations incurred increased expenses; however, they are for items that are not intended to be repeated for the upcoming school year and it did not significantly impact the budget as a whole.

SECS: PARENT TEACHER ORGANIZATION

The SECS PTO exists to enhance the educational environment by supporting our teachers, families, students, and staff through volunteer and financial resources. The PTO works to build and strengthen our community through social events and fundraisers. With the funds raised from activities listed below, the PTO sponsors community-building events such as Hall Decorating, Birthday Club, Field Day, Recipe & Rosary, Teacher Luncheons, and so much more!

Our Booster Club in 2023-2024 was housed under our PTO and raised funds through the annual pie sales to support our athletics and extracurricular groups. Thank you to all who supported these sales!

THE MONARCH FUND: EVENTS

We again kicked off our fundraising for the Monarch Fund with the family favorite event, “Let’s Play Kickball!” in November of 2023, followed by Giving Tuesday, also in November. After the textile recycling program Phill the Box proved so popular last year, we decided to have two donation sessions, fall and spring, for 2024-2025. They even allowed us to extend our spring collection through the summer! Finally, we finished our schedule of events with the Spring Arts Showcase in May of 2024. These four events raised a gross total of $48,014! Expenses for our events were approximately $2,576, allowing the majority of the raised funds to immediately benefit SECS.

For the 2024-2025 year, the Advancement Committee will continue the success with “Let’s Play Kickball”, Giving Tuesday, Phill the Box, and the Spring Arts Showcase. We hope you will generously support these events again this year!

THE MONARCH FUND: RECOGNITION

We deeply appreciate the benefactors who support the Monarch Fund and our school’s mission to prepare students to be Catholic examples for the Church community while fostering their spiritual, intellectual, physical, and social development through Gospel values. All individuals, companies, and foundations who donate $1,000 or more to this annual fund by the end of the school’s fiscal year (June 30) are invited to a reception with our Pastor, our Principal, and our School Advisory Council representative to be recognized for their investment in St. Edward Catholic School. All donors from all levels are recognized annually in the school’s Gratitude Report. Learn more at https://stedwardschool.org/annualfund.

IDENTIFIED NEEDS

Reflecting back on the 2023-2024 year, we can be proud of how we have used our raised funds, grant funds, and tuition funds to invest in our community. As we look forward to our 2024-2025 school year, we now need to set goals based on identified needs.

Top Tier Priority Need

New Internet Switch and Back Up Battery for Elementary

Anticipated costs: Switch-$750; Back up Battery-$1,132

Our technological infrastructure in the Elementary Building is showing its age. While we have tried to keep up with repairs as best we can, it is time for a replacement. In addition to traditional fundraising, we are looking for large scale individual or corporate donors so we can make this purchase quickly. Please contact us if you have any questions, interest, or connections.

Second Tier Priority Need Additional Promethean Boards with Stands

Anticipated costs: $2,817 per Board; $977 per stand

We were fortunate to be able to use our EANS Grant to meet many of our technology goals in recent years, including purchasing Promethean Boards for most classrooms. We would love to have a Promethean Board and stand in each room and are hoping that through individual or corporate donors and fundraising efforts will help us meet this goal. Please contact us if you have any questions, interest, or connections.

IDENTIFIED NEEDS

Third Tier Priority Need

New Desktop Computers for Teachers

Anticipated cost: $3,556

Speaking of aging equipment, several of our computer workstations for our teachers are nearing the end of their usefulness. Again, we are hoping that through individual or corporate donors and fundraising efforts, we can work toward replacing these units. Please contact us if you have any questions, interest, or connections which could help with these purchases.

Fourth Tier Priority Need Health & Safety items

Anticipated costs: LifeVacs-$80 each; Tourniquet kits-$61 each; AED units-$2,021 each

In an effort for our campus to be as prepared for emergencies as possible, we would like to purchase several LifeVacs and tourniquet kits, as well as additional AED units. These are additional goals for our fundraising events and we are also hoping for individual or corporate donors to aid in these efforts. Please contact us if you have any questions, interest, or connections.

We continue to grateful for every minute and dollar that our community invests in our school. Thank you for believing in the importance of a Catholic Education and supporting us in giving our students the best educational experience possible!
