As a specialist in community development, urban planning and public policy, Joel works with the Steadfast City team to implement economic development strategies and projects that facilitate growth for their private, not-for-profit, and (quasi) governmental clients He is a certified planner (AICP) through the American Planning Association and an active member of Urban Land Institute
Prior to joining Steadfast City, Joel coordinated both public and non-profit sector development work He began his career as an associate project manager for Park Central Development Corporation, facilitating projects to maintain vibrant neighborhoods and commercial districts within St. Louis’ central corridor. As the Planner and Geographic Information Systems Coordinator for the City of Belleville, IL, he guided development and land use to conform to the City’s code and comprehensive plan and assisted with the creation of city ordinances designed to promote economic growth
