Climate impact and transport initiative

In our pursuit of environmental responsibility and sustainability, STAXS made significant strides in 2023 to address the critical issue of climate change. Our commitment to reducing carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions in the transport sector reached new heights, exemplifying our dedication to a greener future.

CO2 Neutrality in transport : A remarkable achievement

In 2022, STAXS achieved a commendable 77% CO2 neutral status in our transportation operations. Building on this success, we have been able to reach our 2023 milestone of 100% CO2 neutrality.

This achievement is a result of our collaboration with transportation companies that operate on a carbon-neutral basis. The small portion that is not carbon neutral is diligently compensated by STAXS.

25

Maximizing efficiency, minimizing impact : Driving sustainability through innovation

Our goal was clear: identify opportunities to optimize of our packaging, thereby reducing waste and minimizing our environmental impact, resulting in a dual benefit of improving logistics efficiency and decreasing carbon emissions. Through analysis and innovative solutions, we sought to align our packaging practices with our commitment to environmental responsibility.

Environmental Impact: A substantial reduction in CO2 emissions

The results of our packaging optimization study are enlightening and impactful. Our data reveals a potential annual saving of 1400 kg of CO2 –a tangible and measurable achievement in our efforts towards a greener future.

26

Beyond environmental gains : Cost savings and operational efficiency

The positive implications of this optimization extend beyond environmental benefits. This strategic packaging overhaul translates into not only a reduced carbon footprint but also into cost savings and heightened operational efficiency. By streamlining our packaging processes, we’re ensuring that sustainability is seamlessly integrated into our overall business strategy.

27

Waste reduction strategy : A commitment to environmental responsibility

Recognizing the pressing need to address waste management challenges, STAXS® has undertaken a comprehensive waste reduction strategy, aiming not only to decrease overall waste volume but also to enhance material recyclability.

This strategy is a crucial step towards minimizing our environmental impact and promoting a sustainable approach to waste management.

Key achievements in waste valorization

1.

Improved separation practice:

In-depth analysis of our waste streams led to the identification of opportunities for enhanced material separation. Plastic, carton, and garments from our cleanroom facilities are now segregated more efficiently, contributing to the reduction in overall waste volume.

2.

Cleanroom garment recycling:

Recognizing the nature of cleanroom garments, we have implemented a dedicated collection and recycling process for these materials. This initiative reflects our commitment to finding specialized solutions for diverse waste streams.

3.

Engagement and education

Actively involving our employees in waste separation initiatives, we provided education and training to ensure the proper disposal of materials. This collaborative effort has been instrumental in achieving our waste reduction goals.

At STAXS®, our waste reduction and valorization efforts represent a significant stride towards a more sustainable future. We remain dedicated to continuous improvement in waste management practices, minimizing our environmental footprint, and contributing to a circular economy.

More digital – less paper

At STAXS, we are committed to reducing paper and cardboard consumption through innovative service offerings. Our approach includes transitioning to an online catalog, facilitating online ordering processes, and implementing electronic invoicing systems. By embracing digital solutions, we aim to minimize environmental impact while streamlining operations for our customers. With our online platform, clients can access product information conveniently and place

orders efficiently, eliminating the need for traditional paper-based processes. Furthermore, our transition to electronic invoicing not only reduces paper waste but also enhances the speed and accuracy of financial transactions. At STAXS, we are dedicated to sustainability and efficiency, empowering our clients to make environmentally conscious choices without compromising on quality or convenience.

30

Advancing sustainability through sterilization methodology

We have made a significant stride towards sustainability by transitioning from gamma sterilization to X-ray sterilization for our DOTCH products. This strategic shift is aligned with our dedication to reducing our ecological footprint and contributing to a more sustainable future.

Gamma sterilization, while effective in ensuring product safety, was associated with environmental challenges, notably the CO2 emissions from nuclear power plants providing energy for isotope production. Furthermore, the generation of nuclear waste posed long-term environmental concerns.

20 CO2 reduction per pallet %

Our adoption of X-ray sterilization presents a greener alternative, especially when powered by renewable energy sources. This transition has resulted in a significant reduction in CO2 emissions, with a calculated footprint of 40 kg of CO2 per pallet, compared to the 50 kg associated with gamma sterilization for one pallet at 25 kGy.

The reduction in CO2 emissions is just one aspect of the positive environmental impact of our switch to X-ray sterilization. Beyond lowering our carbon footprint, we are actively avoiding the production of nuclear waste and reducing overall energy consumption.

As we continue to explore innovative ways to enhance sustainability across our operations, this switch stands as a significant milestone in our journey towards a greener, more sustainable future.

31

Implication and future commitments

The overall reduction in GHG emissions highlights the positive impact of collaborative sustainability initiatives with our suppliers. This progress underscores our shared commitment to mitigating climate change.

Recognizing the potential for broader impact, we are committed to exploring opportunities for sustainability improvements in Scope 3 emissions. This includes engaging with our suppliers to implement initiatives across the value chain.

Building on our achievements, we are actively setting future sustainability goals to further reduce our carbon footprint and enhance environmental stewardship. Our commitment to sustainability involves continuous collaboration with suppliers.

We will work closely with our suppliers to monitor emissions, identify new opportunities for improvement, and jointly contribute to a more sustainable future.

33

Minimizing product waste through efficient management

Through an in-depth examination of our supply chain and inventory management systems, we pinpointed contributing factors to the disposal of goods. Overstocking, inefficient product rotation, and insufficient communication across various stages of the supply chain emerged as critical issues. Recognizing these root causes was pivotal in devising effective and sustainable solutions.

Addressing these challenges, we have implemented measures to strengthen communication channels between STAXS® and our customers. This ensures timely information about product shelf life and expiration dates, significantly reducing the likelihood of goods being disposed. Our commitment to enhancing communication not only minimizes environmental impact but also fosters a more efficient and responsible supply chain.

By focusing on making as many products as possible recyclable and addressing the root causes of product disposal, STAXS® report a substantial reduction in the destruction of goods due to expiration dates.

Reduction in product waste due to expiration dates, 7000 kg in 2022 to a 3000 kg – equivalent to 0.001% of the total number of goods. This substantial decrease underscores our commitment to minimizing the destruction of products nearing their shelf life.
