Do not let better stand in the way of good
Dear partners,
This past year marked a milestone in our sustainability journey, as we achieved Platinum status from EcoVadis - the highest rating possible and an honor shared by only 1% of companies worldwide. This recognition reflects the collective efforts we’ve undertaken over the years and fills us with pride.
But as any sports enthusiast knows, reaching the top is only part of the challenge - staying there is the true test Not because we will perform any less effectively, but because the field is improving too Once you reach the top, you become the benchmark, and that means others are striving to surpass you At STAXSr, we welcome this pursuit It inspires us to continue innovating and advancing our sustainability trajectory
We’ve already mapped out the next steps to keep pushing boundaries and, hopefully, maintain our Platinum status. At the same time, we embrace the idea that the harder it becomes to stay at the top, the better it will be for the planet and its people. Competition in sustainability is not only healthy; it is necessary.
Our customers, too, are setting ambitious sustainability goals, many of which present real challenges We understand that not every solution fits neatly into your roadmap, but we firmly believe that every small step counts Sustainability is a shared responsibility, and progress does not require perfection This is why we urge you to take part in our plan todaydon’t wait for a perfect moment or a perfect solution.
Together, we can take meaningful steps without waiting for perfection. Let’s prove that "better" should never stand in the way of "good." Participate now and start making a difference. Your partnership is critical to this journey, and we are excited to continue working with you to make impactful change a reality
Thank you for your commitment and collaboration

Sustainability is at the heart of STAXS In 2024, we proudly received the EcoVadis Platinum Medal, placing us among the top 1% of companies globally for sustainability performance This independent recognition highlights our leadership in promoting environmental, social, and ethical progress.
To ensure our efforts address the most pressing challenges and align with international standards, we are evolving our STAXS Pink Planet initiative Previously focused on the themes of Better Life, Climate, and Resources, our approach now encompasses three key pillars:
Continuing to prioritize health, education, and decent work, this pillar aligns with UNSDGs 3, 4, 5, and 8, reflecting our commitment to the well-being of people and communities.
Building on our efforts to enhance energy efficiency and reduce emissions, this focus supports UNSDGs 7, 12 and 13, reaffirming our dedication to tackling climate challenges
Representing our emphasis on responsible sourcing, ethical governance, and transparency, this pillar incorporates accountability and sustainability across our operations and supply chains, aligned with UNSDG 1, 12, 16 and 17.
This evolution strengthens our ability to communicate our sustainability goals clearly and consistently, while reinforcing our unique identity and core values Sustainable Value Creation speaks to our dedication to building enduring, ethical practices that generate long-term positive impacts
STAXS Pink Planet remains our pledge to help shape a more sustainable, equitable, and prosperous world.
Guided by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs) and the United Nations Global Compact, we continue to lead through partnerships, innovations, and measurable actions With sustainability as our compass, we’re building a future where clean environments and responsible practices come together for the benefit of everyone
We began this journey with our DOTCH product line and are committed to expanding the evaluation across the entire STAXS portfolio by 2025 The assessment covers key sustainability factors, including climate impact, biodiversity, and circularity, evaluating every phase of the product life cycleUpstream, Use Phase, and Downstream. We’ve also integrated critical factors like Health & Safety (H&S), innovation, and profitability all carefully weighted to reflect their significance.
In line with Haniel’s “enkelfähig” philosophy, we have introduced a practical, results-driven framework for evaluating whether our products meet the principles of enkelfähig or need further enhancement Unlike traditional methods such as Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs) or Product Environmental Footprints (PEFs), which often involve complexities and inconsistencies, our approach is straightforward and designed to provide clear, actionable insights
This approach allows us to focus on the most impactful actions, making it easier to improve sustainability while avoiding the pitfalls of traditional methods that can be inconsistent or overly complex. With this system, we ensure reliable, effective decisions that align with enkelfähig and help us work towards a more sustainable future
Together, we are focused on making a lasting impact, fostering responsibility, and protecting the planet for future generations.
At the heart of our STAXS Pink Planet Initiative is the STAXS Second Life Program, which redefines how we approach sustainability. This program reflects our unwavering commitment to advancing a circular economy by reducing environmental impact and promoting responsible practices at every step
Over the past year, the Second Life Program has made significant strides, especially with its application to our DOTCH products. Building on this success, we're now expanding the program to include selected partner products. This extension further underscores our commitment to sustainability and signals a more collaborative effort boosting resource efficiency across our entire supply chain
Working hand-in-hand with our business partners, we are driving positive change and realizing the full potential of the Second Life Program Together, we are focused on making a lasting impact, fostering responsibility, and protecting the planet for future generations.

This commitment is consistent and unwavering, regardless of age, disability, gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, or any other distinction
At STAXS fostering equality isn’t just a responsibilityit’s a foundational principle of who we are.
Gender balance remains a central focus in our equality efforts. Over the past few years, we have made remarkable strides toward achieving greater gender equity across our workforce:
These figures demonstrate the progress we’ve made in creating a workplace where gender equality is both a goal and a reality.
From 56% male and 44% female in 2022 to a balanced 50% male and 50% female in 2024, we’ve demonstrated our commitment to inclusivity and equality. Breaking it down further:
Diversity is about more than numbers At STAXS , we continuously enhance policies and initiatives to foster a culture where every individual feels empowered, respected, and valued. The principles of equality and inclusion are firmly embedded in our STAXS Code of Conduct, which guides our behavior and ensures alignment with our values.
To uphold these standards, we’ve implemented a clear, confidential process for employees to report concerns related to discrimination or intimidation
This ensures that every team member has a safe space to be heard, supported, and empowered to thrive
Our commitment to equality and diversity goes beyond aspirations - it’s reflected in our policies, actions, and measurable progress At STAXS , we believe that true inclusion unlocks innovation and drives sustainable growth. By fostering a diverse, supportive, and inclusive workplace, we create the foundation for our employees to excel, contribute their best, and achieve their fullest potential.
At STAXS , career development is more than a process - it’s a cornerstone of our philosophy We take a holistic approach to career management, focusing on attracting and nurturing a diverse range of talents while fostering a workforce with well-rounded skills

In early 2023, our Heerenveen facility significantly reduced natural gas use for heating by incorporating heat pump technology. This single initiative cut GHG emissions by 65t.
Building on this progress, in 2024, STAXS has committed to offsetting emissions from residual gas consumption. Combined with our 100% green electricity policy, these initiatives are crucial milestones on our journey toward achieving GHG emission neutrality for both Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions.
electricity policy for both Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions.
At STAXS , sustainability is not just a target, it’s an integral part of how we operate Through our STAXS Pink Planet Initiative, we direct our efforts toward areas where sustainable solutions can have the greatest impact This initiative reflects our ongoing commitment to environmentally responsible practices and highlights our drive to make a meaningful, positive contribution.
At the heart of our sustainability approach is the promise to give our products a second life We understand the importance of ensuring our products continue to serve a purpose once they’ve fulfilled yours This commitment goes beyond the initial transaction, emphasizing our dedication to fostering a circular economy and reducing our environmental footprint.
We made significant strides in our Second Life Program, particularly for DOTCH products. In 2021, only 2% of these products entered the program. By 2022, this figure surged to 50%, and we achieved an outstanding 98% since 2023. This evolution reflects the program's maturity and our steadfast commitment to creating a sustainable future This marks a significant achievement, with over 8,7t of materials being integrated into our program in 2024 alone - a testament to the tangible impact of our commitment to sustainability
Building on this success, we are further expanding the Second Life Program to include materials from selected suppliers This includes a wide range of raw materials such as Tyvek , nitrile, latex, neoprene, and empty bottles and cans from Ecolab These additions extend our sustainability efforts beyond our own products. We are collaborating closely with trusted partners to ensure the success of this initiative. Through these partnerships, we are demonstrating that sustainability is about fostering a shared commitment to environmental responsibility across our entire value chain
Our customer partnerships within the Second Life Program have also seen remarkable growth After an 84% increase in customer participation in 2023, the number of participating customers in 2024 has doubled compared to the previous year This surge in engagement illustrates the growing recognition of the program's value and the shared responsibility of all stakeholders in building a more sustainable future.
By advancing our Second Life Program, we are setting new benchmarks for innovation and responsibility Together with our customers and partners, STAXS is redefining sustainability, leaving a lasting, positive impact for generations to come
In 2024, STAXS takes a major step towards sustainability by transitioning from virgin materials to fully or partially recycled alternatives for packaging This significant shift includes:
Box liners made from 100% Post-Industrial Recycled (PIR) material.
Top sheets crafted from 100% PIR material.
Pallet wrap film, now incorporating 50% PostConsumer Recycled (PCR) material.
While it is not yet possible to produce pallet wrap film entirely from recycled materials due to the need to preserve essential stretch properties, the composition has been optimized to balance performance with environmental responsibility.
This transition brings tangible environmental gains like minimizing waste, lowering carbon emissions, preserving natural resources and advancing a circular economy. At STAXS , sustainability is not just an aspiration - it’s a core commitment. By embracing recycled materials in our packaging, we’re reducing our environmental impact without compromising the high standards of quality and reliability that our customers rely on
As a testament to our ongoing commitment to sustainability, we continue to lead our own buildings towards a greener future We’ve switched to LED lighting wherever possible LED lamps can save up to 80% of energy compared to other light sources and have a 20-times longer lifespan In Belgium, we have taken a huge step by transforming the old, energy-guzzling industrial lamps with the latest LED technology, making them not only more environmentally friendly, but also more efficient. 95% 80%

Following the upgrade of the offices in Belgium, the lighting in the Netherlands offices has now also been replaced with LED. We now have fresh daylight in the offices according to the latest ARBO standards, and we are fully up-to-date with modern workplace standards
With these most recent upgrades, completed in 2024, we are proud to report that the percentage of LED lighting throughout our facilities has increased from 80% to an impressive 95% This reflects our continued dedication to sustainability and energy efficiency, aligning with our broader mission to minimize our environment footprint
In 2024, as part of STAXS ongoing efforts to improve sustainability and environmental responsibility, we took significant steps in determining our greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. These emissions were measured across all three scopes: Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3.
Scope 1
Scope 2 (Market based)
e
Scope 3
Scope 1 refers to direct emissions from owned or controlled sources, such as emissions from company vehicles or on-site operations.
Scope 2 covers indirect emissions from the generation of purchased energy, like electricity used in our facilities.
STAXS assessed emissions from upstream categories, including purchased goods and services, capital goods, energy-related activities, transportation, business travel, and employee commuting. Emissions from purchased products were excluded but will be included next year, alongside relevant downstream categories, for a more comprehensive value chain analysis.
By measuring and monitoring these emissions, STAXS is now equipped to track our environmental impact more effectively and take the necessary steps to reduce these emissions. This comprehensive approach allows us to implement targeted strategies to improve energy efficiency, reduce waste, and ultimately lower our overall carbon footprint.
At STAXS , we understand the pressing need to address waste management challenges head-on. As part of our unwavering commitment to sustainability, we have implemented a robust waste reduction strategy aimed at decreasing waste volume and enhancing material recyclability

However, in 2024, waste levels rose to 67t, driven primarily by increased production and additional packaging waste related to the success of our Second Life program
This evolution underscores the need to refine our approach, balancing production growth with waste management
Rather than focusing solely on absolute waste metrics, STAXS is now emphasizing waste intensity - measured as waste generated relative to production output This progressive approach enables us to evaluate waste efficiency in relation to growth while prioritizing recyclability and sustainable production practices
By setting benchmarks and closely monitoring waste intensity, we aim to maintain or improve these levels, ensuring our sustainability efforts remain impactful even as production scales
At STAXS , reducing waste isn’t just about managing numbers - it’s about creating meaningful environmental change Through innovative strategies, collaborative efforts, and a focus on sustainable growth, we’re determined to lead the industry toward a future where waste is minimized, resources are optimized, and recyclability is the norm.
Together, we are driving progress and forging a cleaner, more sustainable tomorrow.
Our commitment to sustainability drives us to adopt innovative solutions that minimize environmental impact and enhance efficiency. In 2024, we made significant strides in reducing paper and cardboard consumption by further expanding our digital-first initiatives, reflecting our dedication to creating a more sustainable future
In today’s fast-paced world, access to information needs to be both efficient and sustainable. That’s why we have transitioned to a paperless approach, offering essential documents through our STAXS Customer portal This platform provides customers with easy access to a wide range of resources, from product datasheets, safety datasheets and certificates for purchased products to important STAXS certificates, statements, and STAXS Second Life Declarations.
By making this information available online, we reduce the need for printed documents, contributing to a significant reduction in paper waste. This not only helps to lower our environmental impact but also ensures that critical information is always at your fingertips, whenever and wherever you need it
STAXS forward-thinking approach demonstrates how technology can lead to smarter, more sustainable business practices. The integration of digital tools into our operations highlights our dual commitment to minimizing waste and maximizing efficiency, benefiting both the environment and our partners
In 2024, STAXS reaffirmed its commitment to sustainability by taking significant strides toward achieving ISO 14001 certification, the internationally recognized standard for environmental management. This certification represents a critical milestone in our mission to minimize our environmental footprint and promote sustainable practices across our operations.
Our commitment to environmental responsibility
Achieving ISO 14001 certification in 2025 goes beyond compliance - it signifies a proactive approach to sustainability, embedding environmental awareness into the core of our decisionmaking and operations By aligning with this global standard, we are improving our resource efficiency, enhancing our environmental performance and building stakeholder confidence, demonstrating our dedication to responsible practices, benefiting customers, employees, and the environment alike.
To meet the standards of ISO 14001, we have implemented robust systems and processes that enhance our resource efficiency, reduce waste, and strengthen our overall environmental performance
These steps not only demonstrate our dedication to continuous improvement but also reflect our responsibility as a sustainable business partner.
Commitments and objectives are nothing if they’re aren’t backed by actions.
In 2024, STAXS continued to advance sustainability by working closely with our top 10 suppliers to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. These collective efforts have yielded substantial results, reflecting our shared commitment to minimizing environmental impact across the supply chain.

Moving forward, we will continue setting ambitious sustainability targets to further minimize our carbon footprint and strengthen environmental stewardship Through collaboration, monitoring, and innovation, we remain committed to building a more sustainable future.
Sustainability is more than an operational goal - it is a fundamental part of our approach to business, driven by ethical resource management and strong supplier partnerships. By upholding the principles outlined in the STAXS Supplier Code of Conduct, we actively ensure our commitment to ethical practices permeates every level of our supply chain.
Our resource management strategy prioritizes not just efficiency but also accountability, placing sustainability and ethics at the core of decision-making Key highlights of our approach include:
Careful supplier selection: All potential suppliers are rigorously evaluated to ensure alignment with STAXS high ethical and sustainability standards.
Comprehensive oversight: A detailed approval process is applied across our top 20 internal and external suppliers, guaranteeing their commitment to responsible practices.
This dedication extends beyond mere compliance; it forms the backbone of a sustainable supply chain that reflects our corporate values
At STAXS , we see our suppliers as partners in building a better future By formalizing our relationships through the STAXS Supplier Code of Conduct, we:
Promote transparency in all supply chain activities.
Foster accountability by setting clear expectations for ethical and sustainable practices
Cultivate long-term partnerships based on trust, integrity, and shared values
Collaboration is central to our philosophy By working hand-in-hand with suppliers, we amplify our shared ability to address environmental and ethical challenges effectively. Together, we are building a supply chain that not only meets but exceeds industry expectations for sustainable and responsible resource management.
Through these collective efforts, STAXS remains steadfast in its commitment to driving meaningful change and setting new standards for ethical and sustainable business practices
We believe that ethical behavior and integrity are fundamental to achieving long-term success As part of our ongoing commitment to fostering a culture of inclusion, diversity, and respect, we have embedded the principles of equality and diversity deeply into our STAXS Code of Conduct. This Code is not only a set of guidelines, but a reflection of the values that define our organization - honesty, fairness, and a commitment to doing the right thing, even when faced with complex ethical challenges
To ensure that our employees understand and are equipped to adhere to these principles, the STAXS Code of Conduct has been thoroughly communicated across the organization. It is a mandatory part of our onboarding process, and regular training ensures that all employees are up to date with the latest expectations and practices. Furthermore, we require that each employee formally acknowledges their understanding and agreement with the Code, reinforcing our collective responsibility to uphold these ethical standards
Our Code of Conduct serves as a vital framework for employees, offering clear, actionable guidance on how to navigate ethical dilemmas and make decisions that align with our core values The Code covers a wide range of ethical concerns, including respect for human rights, maintaining a safe and inclusive workplace, promoting transparency, and upholding our environmental and social responsibilities We recognize that ethical issues can arise in many different contexts, and we have designed the Code to provide employees with the clarity and support they need to act with integrity at all times
We actively encourage employees to voice concerns or report unethical behavior without fear of retaliation We have established secure, confidential channels for reporting incidents of misconduct, ensuring that every employee feels empowered to speak up and take action when needed We view this openness as a cornerstone of our corporate culture and firmly believe that a proactive approach to addressing ethical issues helps maintain the trust and integrity that is crucial to our business success
By fostering a culture of inclusivity, mutual respect, and ethical accountability, we aim to create an environment where differences are not only respected but celebrated We are committed to continuously improving and evolving our practices, ensuring that our workplace remains one where all employees feel valued, safe, and empowered to contribute their best work.
As we continue to grow and develop, our commitment to ethics and inclusivity will remain central to everything we do We recognize that maintaining a high standard of ethical behavior is not a one-time effort, but a continuous journey, and we are dedicated to strengthening our ethical foundations to create a positive and lasting impact on our people, partners, and communities
