LAST WEEKEND – SPECIAL RELIEF COLLECTION The collections taken at last weekend’s Masses in aid of the refugee crisis amounted to £4492. The money will be shared between Trocaire and St Vincent de Paul and will be put towards alleviating the suffering of those forced to leave their homes and possessions in search of a safe place to live. Thank you for your outstanding generosity.

THIS SUNDAY – RECOMMISSIONING This Sunday 22nd November, the last Sunday in the Church’s year, we will be recommissioning all our Lectors, Eucharistic Ministers and members of the Choir during the 11am Mass. YEAR OF ST COLUMBANUS To mark the 1400th anniversary of the death of St. Columbanus on the 23rd Nov. there will be a Concelebrated Mass in St. Comgall’s church, Brunswick Rd Bangor at 7.30pm on Mon 23rd Nov. The chief celebrant will be Bishop A Farquhar and Bishop Denis Nulty of Kildare and Leighlin will be the preacher. All welcome. “CENTENARY BOOK” LAUNCH This Wednesday 25th November at 7.30pm in the Parish Centre, the parish “Centenary Book” will be launched by Fr Martin O’Hagan (of “The Priests”). There will be

refreshments in the Centre and an opportunity to be among the first to purchase a copy, price £5. The centenary of the consecration of St Mary’s, Star of the Sea takes place next July 9th. Various events have been arranged for this Centenary Year. The book launch is the first. Our thanks are due to hardworking researchers and writers: Margaret Campbell, Sean Farren, Maurice McAleese and Roisin McCaughan.

MEALS ON WHEELS PORTSTEWART Our AGM will be held on Thursday 3rd December at 7.30pm in the Town Hall. Anyone interested in becoming a volunteer but unable to attend the AGM should contact Shawn Davies 7083 3520

VIGIL FOR VOCATIONS A Eucharistic Prayer Vigil for Vocations to the Priesthood and Religious Life will take place in St. Comgall’s Church, Bangor on Thursday 26th November from 7pm – 10pm. The Vigil will conclude with Mass at 9pm. In his message for Vocations Sunday, Pope Francis said that ‘vocation flows from the heart of God and blossoms in the good soil of faithful people, in the experience of fraternal love.” May these words spur all of us to continue cultivating that good soil through our prayer, imploring the heart of God to bless us with vocations to the priesthood and religious life.

APOSTOLIC WORK CHRISTMAS COFFEE MORNING AND SALE Saturday 5th December at 10.15am in the Parish Centre. Admission £2 includes tea/coffee, mince pies and shortbread – children free. Donations of home baking, gifts and prizes will be much appreciated. There is also a raffle for a Christmas hamper – tickets on sale after masses during the week and at the Coffee Morning. Apostolic Work supports some of the poorest people in the world. This includes feeding programmes for children, educational projects and helping priests and religious groups with funds to assist their pastoral work.

MEN’S SHED – PUBLIC MEETING There will be a Public Meeting on Thursday 26th November at 7.30pm in the Town Hall to promote and establish a Men’s Shed in Portstewart. There will be the showing of a DVD, an explanation of how they work and the benefits experienced in Limavady, Banbridge, Belfast and other towns.

DOMINICAN COLLEGE PORTSTEWART MUSICAL Our production of “Guys and Dolls” will run at 7.30pm from Wednesday 25th – Friday 27th November. The school last ran this musical in 1983 with Rosaleen Corrigan as Director. Rosaleen sadly died in March this year, and staging this show is our tribute to Rosaleen for her commitment to Dominican College. Thursday 26th November performance will be a Gala night, open to everyone, where we will support N I Chest Heart and Stroke in Rosaleen’s memory. Hundreds of thousands of us will be marching in cities around the world on November 29th just before our leaders travel to Paris for the climate summit. Pope Francis in his encyclical Laudato Sí, encourages us all to take action. He says “Let us be protectors of creation, protectors of God’s plan inscribed in nature, protectors of one another and of the environment.” 1.00pm: Climate justice ecumenical service at St. Anne's Cathedral, Belfast, 2.00pm: People's Climate Rally, Writer's Square, Belfast.

SENIOR CITIZENS’ CHRISTMAS LUNCH The annual SVP Lunch will be held on Wednesday 9th December at 12 for 12.30pm in the Cromore Halt. Menus and sign-in sheets will be left at the back of the church later in the week. PERMANENT DIACONATE Twelve men in our Diocese – including two from our parish have already completed their preparatory year and are in their second year of formation for the Diaconate. CHRISTMAS CARDS Habitat for Humanity Christmas cards on sale in the Repository from this weekend. £4 for Pack of 10 - contemporary and traditional designs. All proceeds will help build houses, community and hope in Ethiopia. As always your support would be very much appreciated.
