The Mass will be celebrated for all our deceased parishioners, recent or long ago, and special remembrance will be made for those who have died in the past year. Refreshments will be served afterwards in the Marian Hall.

COLLECTIONS Last weekend’s parish collection came to £1472. Thank you for your continued generosity. THIS WEEK – SPECIAL RELIEF COLLECTION This weekend the collections will be in aid of the relief of refugees from the Middle East. There will be no usual weekend parish collection. All donations will be divided between SVP and Trocaire who are both working on the ground with refugees in different parts of Europe and the Middle East. Please give as generously as you are able. SVP CLOTHING DRIVE The van will be here all weekend until Monday morning to collect your donations of good quality warm clothing and all will go towards the refugee crisis. Think of the refugees who are about to experience our European winter, ill-equipped to face the cold. Our parish is always good at responding to the Clothes Appeal. Let’s make it extra good this year and surprise even ourselves at the amount and quality of our cast-offs.

Adult Irish classes Wednesday 8 to 9.30pm. Ladies Football Training We hope to build on the success of our first season in Senior Ladies’ Football and we are as always willing to welcome new players to the game. We are holding a number of sessions at Eoghan Rua pitch on Sunday mornings from 11am to 12.15pm. The focus is to develop the skills needed and enjoy the sessions and games. All welcome – no previous football experience necessary – just an interest and a willingness to get fit, compete and have fun!! PRISON WEEK Sunday 15th to Saturday 21st November 2015 An ecumenical service for Prison Week will be celebrated in St George’s Church, 105 High St, Belfast on Wednesday 18th November at 7.30pm. Prison Week is a week of prayer of all those involved in prison life. An invitation is extended to all those involved with prison life, those working with victims of crime and all those families who have been affected by family members in prison. TROCAIRE REMEMBRANCE MASS The annual Trocaire Mass for deceased supporters will be held on Monday 16th November at 7.30pm in St Malachy’s Church, 24 Alfred Street, Belfast. The Mass will be concelebrated by Bishop Farquhar and Fr Michael McGinnity PP. Light refreshments will be served afterwards. INTERNATIONAL DINNER You are invited to an International Dinner featuring foods of the world at Agherton Parish Hall on Friday 20th November. Join in celebrating the diversity in our community in both food and music. £10.00 covers 3 course meal and entertainment in aid of Rotary Charities. All welcome. VIGIL FOR VOCATIONS A Eucharistic Prayer Vigil for Vocations to the Priesthood and Religious Life will take place in St. Comgall’s Church, Bangor on Thursday 26th November from 7pm – 10pm. The Vigil will conclude with Mass at 9pm. In his message for Vocations Sunday, Pope Francis said that ‘vocation flows from the heart of God and blossoms in the good soil of faithful people, in the experience of fraternal love.” May these words spur all of us to continue cultivating that good soil through our prayer, imploring the heart of God to bless us with vocations to the priesthood and religious life. “CENTENARY BOOK” LAUNCH On Wednesday 25th November 7.30pm in the Parish Centre, the parish “Centenary Book” will be launched by Fr Martin O’Hagan (of “The Priests”). There will be refreshments in the Centre and an opportunity to be among the first to purchase a copy, price £5. The centenary of the consecration of St Mary’s,

Star of the Sea, takes place next July 9th. Various events have been arranged for this Centenary Year. The book launch is the first. Our thanks are due to hard-working researchers and writers; Margaret Campbell, Sean Farren, Maurice McAleese. and Roisin McCaughan. DOMINICAN COLLEGE PORTSTEWART MUSICAL Our production of “Guys and Dolls” will run at 7.30pm from Wednesday 25th – Friday 27th November. The school last ran this musical in 1983 with Rosaleen Corrigan as Director. Rosaleen sadly died in March this year, and staging this show is our tribute to Rosaleen for her commitment to Dominican College. Thursday 26th November performance will be a Gala night, open to everyone, where we will support N I Chest Heart and Stroke in Rosaleen’s memory. Hundreds of thousands of us will be marching in cities around the world on November 29th just before our leaders travel to Paris for the climate summit. Pope Francis in his encyclical Laudato Sí, encourages us all to take action. He says “Let us be protectors of creation, protectors of God’s plan inscribed in nature, protectors of one another and of the environment.” 1.00pm: Climate justice ecumenical service at St. Anne's Cathedral, Belfast, 2.00pm: People's Climate Rally, Writer's Square, Belfast. PERMANENT DIACONATE Twelve men in our Diocese – including two from our parish have already completed their preparatory year and are in their second year of formation for the Diaconate. CHRISTMAS CARDS Habitat for Humanity Christmas cards on sale in the Repository from this weekend. £4 for Pack of 10 - contemporary and traditional designs. All proceeds will help build houses, community and hope in Ethiopia. As always your support would be very much appreciated. NEXT SUNDAY – RECOMMISSIONING Next Sunday 22nd November, the last Sunday in the Church’s year, we will be recommissioning all our Lectors, Eucharistic Ministers and members of the Choir during the 11am Mass.
