Truck trouble CFA attending the scene, the driver of the second vehicle said she was disappointed that when she first called triple-zero she was told police would not attend. Kate Smith told the Mail she was informed that because no-one was aggressive and no cars were on fire, police would not attend the crash. Sgt Keithley said if it was a non-injury incident police did not necessarily attend, but if an accident was blocking traffic or some other issue they would go anyway.

“In that circumstance there were three calls about vehicles blocking the road,� he said. “The difficulty we had was the truck was stuck against a pole and it was about 45 minutes before we could get the truck removed. “The truck only had minor damage but could not be driven.� Richard Ketelaar stopped to help when he drove past the accident. A FOUR-car collision stopped traffic in York Road on Friday morning after a truck lost control in slippery conditions. Two cars were written off and one was damaged, but luckily no-one was seriously hurt. Mount Evelyn Sergeant Craig Keithley said the truck was travelling down York Road about 8.45am when it allegedly failed to slow down sufficiently in a school zone, resulting in the collision.

“The driver of the truck will receive a penalty notice in relation to the collision - he’s hit the back of the first vehicle which has gone into the second that went into the third,� he said. “People need to pay a little bit more attention when we go from sunshine and sunny days into the first showery day. “It is invariable that the minute the weather conditions change, collisions occur because the roads are just so slippery.� Despite police, paramedics and
