Spectacular sunset celebration People danced, watched, applauded and sang along on Noosa Main Beach at the inaugural Sunset Carols last Friday at what has been described as “truly a fantastic event”. Presented by the Hastings Street Association, the free community event brought together residents and visitors of all ages in a relaxed atmosphere to enjoy a spectacular lineup of performances including Marshall Hamburger, Georgia Stafford and Sincerely Essi and a visit from Santa. Sunset Carols also served as a festive lead-in to Santa’s appearance in his Beach Hut this week as part of Hastings Street’s holiday celebrations. Membership high By Steve Linnell Noosa Libraries have hit a new high, increasing membership to 30,907 - a five per cent increase on last year. Staff also assisted 245,419 customers who physically visited a library branch in 2025, an 8.4 per cent increase - or 20,680 additional people than in 2024. In total, a massive 1.35 million customers either physically visited a library branch or accessed library services online, demonstrating that libraries remain a significant part of peo-
ple’s lives. A Noosa Libraries spokesperson told Noosa Today there were also almost 600,000 physical and digital loans. The top five Adult Fiction books loaned this year were: The Secret by Lee Child, The Waiting by Michael Connelly, Storm Child by Michael Robotham, The Valley by Chris Hammer and In too Deep by Lee Child. Noosa Libraries has multiple services including branches located in Noosaville and Cooroy, as well as a Mobile Library that visits locations across the Shire.
