The next two garden beds are typically dedicated to growing fruits and vegetables. What’s planted here changes throughout the year based on the season and growing conditions. Southwest Florida is unique for gardening because it’s subtropical, meaning we don’t follow the same planting seasons as most of the U.S.
Fall, winter, and spring = cool and dry
Summer = hot and humid

Take a closer look and you’ll notice a variety of shapes, textures, and colors. Succulents store water in their fleshy leaves, allowing them to thrive in hot, sunny environments like Southwest Florida.
All cacti are succulents, but not all succulents are cacti.
