MESSAGE FROM ADMINISTRATION Dear School Families, Mark your calendars for October events. We are headed into a busy part of the year with the holidays already on the way. We were blessed with such beautiful weather just in time for the weekend. It's great that the first hints of what is to come for fall have arrived! We will be reciting our daily decade of the Rosary each morning during the month of October. There is a great sense of peace felt during our prayer time together. Thank you to the families reciting rosaries at home this month for world peace. We hope you can join us for our annual Living Rosary on Tuesday, October 11th.

Our Discipleship message for the week relates to our October Character Trait which is Responsibility. As a community we all have responsibilities to each other. We need to be there for each other, support and protect each other, help each other and above all lead each other closer to Christ. Our shared values and expectations help us to do that. We have expectations for how we do things at SAOP when it comes to things like our behavior at arrival, dismissal, in common areas, in the office, cafeteria, playground, athletic fields, locker rooms and church.

You can find more information about these in the Family Handbook. Our expectations call us to conduct ourselves in a Christ–like manner, whether inside or outside school, or at sponsored activities. We have been learning about and working on these expectations since the first day of school. Living these each and every day is what makes us SAOPCS. We appreciate the partnership we have with our parents who support the expectations and efforts we make to help our students grow in the character trait of responsibility.

October brings our first fundraising event of the year, the Deacon Mike Mims Memorial Golf Tournament! The excitement will be building until tournament day on Friday, October 28th when golfers of all levels of experience will gather at WindRose Golf Club for a great day of fun and fellowship. You don’t need to be a golfer to be involved. There are ways for all of our families to participate and support the event. Volunteers are needed for activities at school and as part of the event. Students will be getting into the “swing” of things during PE that week.

Shankz Black Light Miniature Golf will be hosting a Spirit Night for our school on Wednesday, October 26th from 3–8 pm with 25% of the proceeds coming back to our school. Sponsorships and donations are welcome as well. Let’s all get involved to make it the best golf tournament yet!

For the safety of our children, use the designated southeast parking lot on the side of the church. Only Middle School students and siblings should use the Middle School drop–off. Please do not park in the main school parking lot or staff parking lot when walking your child in to or from the building.

Yes! We have a Used Uniform storage area just off the main area of our school office. Parents are welcome to come look through used uniforms during regular office hours.

ALL–SCHOOL NEWS ROSARY MONTH

SPIRIT NIGHT!

The month of October is dedicated to the Rosary, and after the Mass, the Rosary is the most powerful prayer at our disposal. St. John Paul II often said that the Rosary is a prayer of peace, and he encouraged families to pray the Rosary together. Please sign up for a day that your family will pray the Rosary together.

Grade Level Competition!

Our first competition of the year will be grade level vs. grade level. Let’s see who can bring in the most box tops! Winners will receive a free dress day!      

BASKETBALL COMMITMENT FORMS DUE OCTOBER 7TH! The Basketball season is just around the corner. It is time to find out who is willing to make the commitment to the St Anthony Basketball program. Please be reminded that participating on a STAOPCS athletic team involves a commitment by players – to the team, coaches and your teammates. Players are expected to attend ALL practices and games. Also each student–athlete must maintain the required academic and conduct levels.

BASKETBALL COACH NEEDED St Anthony of Padua Catholic School is seeking a knowledgeable, enthusiastic and passionate individual as a Middle School Girls JV Basketball Coach. The practices and games usually occur weekdays after 3:30pm.
