MESSAGE FROM ADMINISTRATION Dear STAOPCS Families, We hope everyone enjoyed Spring Break. We’re already into the 4th quarter and the school year continues to race by. Summer will be here before we know it! The weeks get busier as we get closer to the end of the year. The Messenger will be your best source of information on activities to come. We have had a great school year and it will be sad to see it come to an end.

Our Discipleship message for the week focuses on three words – trust, wait, and hope. These three words are all connected to Jesus. Our faith begins with trust in Jesus. We must learn to trust Jesus more than we even trust ourselves. He will be there for us, care for us and keep His promises to us. Then, we are called to wait for Jesus. He will answer our prayers, but in His own time. If we say we trust in Him, but keep trying to make things happen right away, we are not really trusting. This is where hope comes in. We wait with hope. We don’t just wish for Jesus’ answer, we should expect it. We should expect to live a life full of meaning, purpose and joy knowing that our reward is in heaven. Trust, wait, and hope are three words that during this Lenten season can bring us closer to Christ.

Just 36 days and counting until our 16th annual Gala, There’s No Place Like Home! We hope you will be joining us for the celebration. There are also sign-up parties and teacher experiences still available for purchase or bidding. If you have not received your invitation, please contact the Advancement office. Want to know more about the Gala or how you can get involved, join the Advancement team for Mission Matters on Tuesday, March 28th from 8:00-9:00 am in the AMR. Congratulations to our 8th grade students who received their acceptance emails and letters from Catholic and private high schools over Spring Break. We are accepting applications for our Pre-K3, PreK-4, 1st, 2nd and 6th grades for '17'18, so spread the word. We anticipate several of these grade levels being filled soon. We wish everyone a blessed Lenten journey.

ALL-SCHOOL NEWS TESTING INFORMATION During the weeks of March 27-31 and April 3-7, students in first through eighth grades will be taking the IOWA Assessments as well as students in first through seventh grades will be taking the CogAT. We will not be testing on Monday or Wednesday the first week and the second week we will not be testing on Wednesday or Friday. We are using these days to review skills and concepts for the subtests and administer make-up tests.

Please make sure your child is in school and on time on testing days. They need to be here by 8:00 and students coming in after this time will need to come back at 10:30. We do not want to disrupt the testing environment for our students.

Please do not schedule any dentists or doctor appointments on these days. It is important that you child is in attendance.

Don Hoyt used his God-given talents to make the world around him a better place. This scholarship is open to current 5th, 6th, or 7th grade students re-entering St. Anthony of Padua Catholic School in the fall of 2017.
