A special thank you to everyone who helped kick off Catholic Schools Week at Mass last weekend!

MESSAGE FROM ADMINISTRATION Dear School Families, We had a wonderful celebration of National Catholic Schools Week this week. NCSW is celebrated annually across the U.S. The theme for the week was "Catholic Schools: Communities of Faith, Knowledge and Service." We're reminded that we are part of larger communities of church, state and nation. Faith, knowledge and service continue to be integral components of a Catholic education. We're proud that they are strong and key to the success of our school. Throughout the week the Charisms of St. Anthony were woven into our activities.

On Monday, the Charism of Mercy was our focus with a classroom penny drive for Catholic Charities; Tuesday, we focused on the Charism of Voluntary Poverty, with a pajama day; Wednesday we focused on the Charism of Understanding and celebrated mass, led by 6A, with our Paduan Pods; Thursday the focus was the Charism of Understanding, with dress your vocation day and a poster contest, and on Friday, the Charism of Faith was our focus with students creating prayer cards for staff, as well as a faculty and student basketball game. We will bring the week to a close with an 8th grade class spaghetti dinner fundraiser on Saturday evening.

Our discipleship message this week focuses on community. Community was part of the theme for our celebration of National Catholic Schools Week this week. We know that discipleship flourishes in community. When we feel part of a community we honor the ideas, ideals, and values of the community. We show our belonging in our words and actions. We are connected to the common good and a common purpose. We are bound by relationships, shared values, and what it means to be members of SAOPCS. We work every day to build our community through relationships with one another, participating in classroom and school wide programs and activities and keeping the creation of a culture of discipleship as our goal.

We would like to wish Ms. Perez the best with her future endeavors and thank her for her service to our school. We also ask for continued prayers for our staff members who have lost loved ones in recent months.

Our Future Family Open House was Thursday evening and we had a great time sharing our school with prospective parents and students. Registration will open by noon on Monday, February 6th for new students and all registration will be completed online.

Have a joyous weekend and we hope to see you at the 8th Grade Spaghetti Dinner Saturday night!

COUNSELOR’S CORNER BY JANAY O’CONNOR The character trait for February is Cooperation (Teamwork & Helping). Cooperation means working together, getting along and working as a team. Cooperation is all about helping others and interacting with people in a way that helps everyone to succeed.

The social skills for February are How to greet others and introduce yourself and How to follow directions.

Important Dates for February  St. Anthony of Padua Quiz Bowl Team will be participating in the St. Pius Middle School Rally on Saturday, February 4, 2017. 

Internet Safety Week is scheduled for February 13-February 17, 2017. Our students will be participating in Internet Safety lessons, presentations and activities this week. We will have two speakers visiting our campus that week. The first is Diane Lamberson who will be presenting to our students on How to Stay Safe Online on Monday, February 13, 2017 and Brodie Simmons who will be talking to our parents about Healthy Technology Use & Social Media on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at 6:00pm in the AMR. This presentation is part of our Mission Matters (POD) series and is for adults only.



Our Love and Logic Parent Training series continues. The course will conclude on Thursday, February 16, 2017.

Important Upcoming Dates  Admission decision letters will be mailed out to our 8th graders from the various Catholic High Schools on or around Friday, March 10, 2017. 

Iowa/CogAt testing begins on Monday, March 27, 2017 .



Career Awareness Week is scheduled for April 17-April 21, 2017. We will host our very first Vocations Day during that week on Wednesday, April 19, 2017.
