November … a Month to Remember
On Saturday, November 1, we celebrate the Solemnity of All Saints Day with one Mass at 9 am. All Saints Day is one of the major Holy Days in the church calendar. A day the church sets aside to honor the “Church Triumphant,” all who have gone before us, both named and unnamed, apostles, martyrs, confessors, and holy men and women who have lived their faith and been examples to us of Christian life. The Feast of All Saints Day has been celebrated on many different days throughout history, but was finally fixed on the first day of November by Pope Gregory III sometime between 731 A.D. and 741 A.D. Because All Saints Day is a Holy Day that falls on a Saturday this year, it is not a Holy Day of Obligation; however, we will celebrate the day with one Mass at 9 am that morning.
Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning, November 2, we celebrate the Feast of as All Souls’ Day at all Masses. All Souls’ Day is the day when we the “Church Militant,” remember the faithful departed nearest and dearest to us. Relatives, family, and friends who have gone before us.
If you wish to have a loved one remembered at this Mass, simply fill out the envelope from your monthly envelope packet or use the QR code in the bulletin. Envelopes are also available in the Gathering Space. As Roman Catholics we are asked to use the month of November to remember all who have gone before us. We are also encouraged to spend time during the month visiting the graves of loved ones and offering prayers. Our Book of Life will be on display in the sanctuary with the names of parishioners who have gone before us.
On the evening of Thursday, November 6, at 7 pm we take time to remember parishioners whose funerals
were within the last year in our church at a special Memorial Mass. This past year we have buried twenty-five members of our parish. Please join us as we support those families that are still grieving the loss of a loved one.
Take time this month to learn about some of your favorite saints, many of them came from very humble backgrounds and went on to do extraordinary things.

PRAYER AND WORSHIP
Receiving Holy Communion: What are the proper practices?
As part of the Eucharistic Revival, more emphasis is being put on reverence for the Eucharist. Here is a brief review on how we as practicing Catholics should receive the Body and Blood of Christ at Mass.
• Before Mass: Be prepared before going to communion. You should be in a state of grace (not aware of any unconfessed mortal sins.)
• Bow Your Head: As you approach the altar, bow your head as a sign of respect to the host and cup. Remember this is the Body and Blood of Christ.
• Form a Throne: Place your left hand flat in front of your body and place your right hand underneath it to create a “throne” to receive the host.
• Receive the Host: The eucharistic minister will place the host in your left palm. When the minister says, “The Body of Christ,” respond with “Amen.” Consume the
Women of Christ Conference Saturday, November 15
All women are invited to celebrate the beauty of their Catholic faith at the annual Women of Christ Conference on Saturday, Nov. 15, at the Brookfield Conference Center . This year’s theme is: Anchored in Hope. Come for a day of joy and camaraderie and be renewed and fortified in your faith! The day includes dynamic speakers, an opportunity for confession, Adoration and a vendor market. The day ends with a Vigil Mass celebrated by Archbishop Jeffery Grob. To register, visit www.womenofchrist.net . Contact Julie Goyette, parish liaison for the conference, with questions at (262) 343 -1349 or juliejeansuperstar@yahoo.com.
host immediately with your right hand before moving to the cup minister.
• Receive the Cup: The same procedure holds true when receiving the cup. Hold the cup with both hands, the minister will say, “The Blood of Christ,” you respond with “Amen.”
• Receiving on the Tongue: Open your mouth slightly and extend your tongue for the eucharistic minister to place the host on it. Do not move, remain still to make it easier for the minister to place the host accurately. After the host is placed on your tongue, swallow it immediately.
• After Receiving Communion: Return to your pew, kneel, and offer a short prayer of thanksgiving for what you have received.
We as Catholics believe that the eucharist is the Source and Summit, Jesus Christ is truly present in the form of bread and wine. This is what sets us apart from other Christian denominations. Receiving communion is an act that should not be taken lightly. Please consider this the next time you receive communion.
