Third Quarter Giving Statements Sent Out Soon

Arthur Scheuber Director of Administrative Services
Happy Fall!
We are blessed to have an engaged and active community. Your gifts of time, talents, and treasure have allowed us to continue the programs that help educate, enrich, and strengthen our faith life. We are at that time of year where we send out our third quarter tax substantiation letters. The bulk of these will be going out via email. They will be mailed to the person in the family listed as “Primary”. If you are not sure who is listed as primary in your family, you can log into mySAL at https://stanthony.ccbchurch.com or call the parish office and we can check for you. If we do not have an email address on file for your household it will be mailed.
You should have received an email from “Pushpay no-reply@pushpay.com,” our service provider for our administrative system. Please make sure that you have not blocked this address. If you have not received the email, please check your spam folder. The statement will look like the sample to the right. View your statement by going to https://stanthony.ccbchurch.com . To view the statement without signing in, click on the underlined text “Click here to access your single giving statement ” which we have highlighted in yellow. It will list your total tax-deductible amount on the front page, including a breakdown of the various funds that you have given to.
Each gift will then be acknowledged on a separate line. Please note that if you have given from a qualified account such as an IRA or made a Required Minimum Distribution from your retirement account those dollars will not be included in the taxdeductible amount in accordance with IRS guidelines. Instead, those items will be list be listed separately and listed as noncash.
If you receive a paper statement from us, make sure that you look at the back side of the page as we may have additional information printed there.
Gifts made to the Love One Another Campaign will be acknowledged by the Archdiocese of Milwaukee. Thank you once again for your generous support.

We recently sent out invitations for our Signature Event, and while the addresses were correct, we’ve learned that there was an error in our list and some of the names on the invitations were incorrect. We sincerely apologize for this confusion.
Please know that everyone is warmly invited to join us for this special event, even if the name on your invitation was not accurate. This event is open to all members of the parish, and we truly hope to see you there. Thank you for your understanding, and we look forward to celebrating together!

THINGS I WISH I HAD SAID by Al McCauley “To whom much is given, much is required.” - LUKE 12:48
NEWS FROM OUR SCHOOL: Opening the Door!

La Clase de Español: Embracing cultural understanding.
There is a significant body of research backing up the importance of learning a second language. Benefits range from developing cognitive skills to preventing dementia in advanced years. But Español at St. Anthony on the Lake goes beyond learning to speak another language.
At an elementary and middle school level, research shows that schools where a second language is taught children have increased cognitive skills, higher achievement in other academic areas, and perform better in tests. The benefits of acquiring a second language, especially at an early age, go beyond enhancing brain activity and productivity at a personal level. The study of another language gives children the opportunity to explore, learn, and understand different cultures.
St. Anthony on Lake long ago adopted Spanish as part of their curriculum through Futura Language Professionals. Futura offers a curriculum and methodology based on the Building Block Method of Learning. Lessons are age and
grade appropriate, and the acquisition of language, in this case, Spanish, happens gradually and continuously. Elementary grades start learning Español through songs, games, and interactive lessons. As each grade progresses, the content of Español also progresses. Gradually, grammatical concepts are introduced and cultural aspects incorporated. Third and fourth graders are not conscious yet that they already understand and practice concepts such as Number and Gender Agreement in Spanish. By the time children are in middle school, they have a good understanding of the basic grammatical structures, and they are ready to begin exploring the language at a deeper level.
Cultural aspects of Spanish such as different ways of living, traditions, and festivities in different Spanish speaking countries are also an important part of our curriculum. Through the academic year children explore these cultural aspects, comparing and contrasting them with their own culture. This is perhaps the most important feature of learning Spanish (or any other second language). The fact that children, in conjunction with the acquisition of a new language, could learn, appreciate and embrace different cultures.
